well hello all :) have not been on hear for ages ,as been really busy with work and daughter and her new pony!!! she got her way:)hope every body is ok.... any way going to replace the brake discs and pads on my t2 which i have now bought i got brembo discs and ebc pads...... 1 thing is bothing me befor i take it a part do i need a special tool to undo the hub nut?? if any of you very helpful and clever chaps replaced the discs yourselfs please let me know what you used to undo hub nut? and used to tighten it back up? o and is it a sod off a job? my nissan dealer will do it for £210... but rather do it myself:)
 
Hi, Swifty my fitter mate, did two wheel studs on Briggies Mistral and it only took him a hour and no special tools as far as I know, he is not here at this time so cannot ask him, but he did say you have to be very carefull to note the way all the bits come off for reasembly, but it is all in the manual on here, Rick

thanks for the reply:) ive had a look at the manual but it dose not say what i should undo the lock nut with inside the hub:confused: looks like i could tap it round with a center punch or something like? i well be very carefull how i take thing off and and take pics as my memory is terrible!!!!
 
cant remember seeing any hub nuts on the t2 . but you will need circlip pliers and a good socket set. plenty of grease wire brushes. and a few pots of clean petrol to soak stuff in to clean it and old towels as rags.

take pics along the way, and make notes

however you will most likely ind the auto hub parts are not in the right way, as they often get tampered with and put back wrong.

the best tip i can offer is do one side at a time so you have something to copy if you get stuck.

thanks for the advise,and your number should i need it.....no dout your get a call for help:eek:dont think the hubs have been taken of my t2 befor as their is no sign of ware a spanner has been on the bolts,so hopeful it is as it left the factory fingers crossed:)
 
If I can remember when I did mine, you have to remove the Auto hubs, then disconnect the circlip first from the end of the drive shaft....

The hub nut is in fact 2 round nuts with holes around the circumference, there are 2 pozidrive screws that lock them together, remove the screws and use say a couple of nails (points removed, place them in opposite holes ( across the diameter) and use a lever to unscrew anticlockwise. Should come apart easily.
Refer to the manual for correct settings, ie preload etc. tighten the lock nuts at the end and insert the pozidrive screws etc.

Tip.. avoid pushing the drive shaft inwards, as it is quite a task to wiggle it back in place.

Hope this helps BUT refer to the manual for correct procedures.
No special tools required, but you will need a torque wrench/socket set etc..

Good luck. Regrease the bearings, etc and each side can be done in 1-1 1/2 hours. 2nd side quicker.
