Just had the MIL light come on again:doh (i'm sure it's got something to do with that blasted EGR) so thought i'd try & check to see if there has been a fault code stored even tho the MIL light go's out once you restart the engine but my plug & the contacts are different to the one in the down loads so wondered if anyone knew which 2 pins you need to bridge on the later models as mines a 55 plate

Just checked it & got 55 which going off the chart means no fault found. I wonder if I can check it with the engine running the next time the MIL light flags up because as soon as I turn the engine off the MIL go's out & doesn't come on again. Back to the old problem of it not wanting to rev at 4K again in 3rd & 4th gear:doh have pumped a load of oil into the EGR vac pipe again which for some reason seemed to solve it last time but used 2 stroke oil this time instead of WD40, hopefully the 2 stroke will clear some of the carbon out of the thing:rolleyes:

be careful with the paper clip method, I do not use it anymore after repeated errors of my own making, in that I cannot be sure I only make the contact once, but I was, due to poor presentation and access bridging it more than once which clears the code, I now use a push button on two lengths of wire, only once I am sure the wires are connected properly will I press the button, so no accidental code clearing now, OH and by the way EGR will throw no codes, there is nothing connected to it, Rick

Your idea of using a switch sounds a good idea Rick & think i'll make one up as it won't come in wrong with this motor:thumbs If it's not the EGR i'm getting stuck on what it could be as the code seems to clear once the engine is switched off but I might have also cleared any stored codes by mistake:doh truck has never went into limp mode & seems to run just the same when the MIL comes on but going to replace the fuel filter anyway as it's over a year old & done 7K
