only ever done a 1.3 cortina... so pics when you do it please LOL

how many miles has it done for the engine to be shot for gods sake???

As there is no ECU or anything to worry about, it's a easy job, hardest part will be to lift the engine out being so high up.
To get the engine off the gearbox you just pull the engine forward when the rad is removed, the engine lift will then hold the engine till you remove it.

If you want pm me and I will give you my mo number to tell you what I can.

Paul.

Make sure both engines are the same as there are 2 differnt tdi engines. i changer one and had to drop the gearbox as there is not enough room to pull the engine forward out of bell housing before yoy hit the front axle. :thumbs

Only one TD engine though..:thumb2

Engine removal

Hi there,

I have just reconditioned my 2.4 Mav. The gearbox has to be moved rearwards as the engine will not come forward engough to clear the spigot shaft. The sump comes up against the front axle. I released both drive shafts and dropped the fourth cross member andd the torsion bars. This alows th gearbox to slide back so as to release the spigot shaft from the crank and the clutch pressure plate springs. I used a hydraulic engine lift to remove the engine, on reolacement I used a motorcycle hydraulic lift to lift and align the gearbox to the engine. This was done on my own. It can be done

If I can help further please do not struggle in silence.

Tony
