hi guys ive had my terrano for a year now and after the snow we've just had i want the truck a little higher as im going to put some new bigger wheels and tyres on

i dont want too go mad but id like to raise the rear and wind the torsion bars at the front

my problem is i cant seem to work out how too raise the rear ?
the front torsion bars i know how to do but its the rear that is really confusing me.
if i change the springs do i need longer shocks ?
or are there spacers that can be used ?

sorry for the dumb ars questions but i just cant work out what i need.:thumb2:thumb2

there are about half a billion threads on here about suspension and body lifts....'search' is your friend :thumb2

is it a swb or lwb?
if its a swb you can fit rear springs from a lwb which will give you about 1 1/2" lift then wind the torsion bars up on the front to suit.
milner off road do a body lift kit for about 80 quid plus vat.
depends what you want from your motor but the springs are the cheapest and easiest option.
a guy on here did the lift springs for a lwb but i dont think he has got any left.:thumbs

,

sorry guys its a lwb and i have searched plenty but i was struggling to understand the difference between a body lift and just changing the springs and to be honest im not familar enough with the under side of the truck to know how to and where to start.

so all i have to do is change the springs then ?

is it just a case of removing my original springs and putting longer springs in ?

thats about the size of it.had mine a couple of years now.i fitted them on my old t2 then swapped them to this one and sold the other.
only person i know of is terranosaurus but last time i checked he didnt have any lwb ones left.
spose you could get some spacers made for the springs.
bodylift is the best option for fitting bigger tyres but theres a bit more work involved.
thats my next project when the weather gets a bit better.
just got to save up some dosh for some 33"tyres.

There are two types of lift remember, body and chassis. The body lift puts spacers between the body shell and its separate chassis, leaving the chassis and running gear at exactly the same height, while the chassis lift uses longer springs and torsion bar adjustment to lift the whole vehicle.

Careful going too mad with the front as the unnatural angle a high lift imposes on the suspennsion and drive train can shorten the life of the CV joints.

I have 2" lift on the back, and adjust torsion bars at the front.
2" Lift springs from ebay about £80. Removed front stabilising bar.
31 10.5 15 bf tyres.
It did lift in total aprox 100mm (4").
