How bloody much!!! :naughty ehehe

Dave is the man who made me take the full plunge :thumbs

If you wanna "play it safe" do a 20% petrol mix

So 20 litres of veg and 4 litres of petrol

Or my standard is 20 litres of veg and 2 litres of petrol :thumb2

alex 10% of 20 is 2 :doh so im running 20 litres of svo thinned down with 2 litres of unleaded left outside for a couple of days to mix well i give it a shake once a day if i remember

Going to give it another go soon I get it from Costco for 14.99 20ltr.
I have read before on here some don't rate the ktc?

Lol dude, yeah, I was saying that super safe ratio is 4 litres to 20 litres veg

But I am running 2 litres to 20 veg :thumb2

if you want to f#ck your truck up add 4ltrs of petrol to 20 ltrs of oil more like, that is a bonkers mix! i put 20 ltrs of diesel in then chuck 40 ltrs of ktc in during these cold times, no problem ever with ktc over a variety of motors.

I think its a personal choice and what works for you and your truck. I think mixing diesel with veg sounds safer but having said that they mix petrol in with diesel to stop it freezing :nenau
Just run tank of bio taking the caravan out to Bridlington and it was spot, I've run it for years with no issues and know what I'm doing with it. Veg is new to me. :thumbs

Why do you say sir?

I've been running this way (actually less) and have no problems (it was 0 degrees yesterday morning)

i say it because your fuel pump runs mainly on fuel lubrication, if you thin it out too much then you lose lubrication, theres only a couple of pence between diesel and unleaded so why bother when its not actually that cold so far this winter. also, its gonna take a while for this wear and tear to finally f#k things up, not just the last couple of weeks you have been mixing it alex, just be careful mate, pumps failing is pretty pricey, you need to weigh up the savings carefully.

Oh right I'm with you, thought you were slating a lower ratio of petrol :doh

Yes in which case i agree dont go too high on the petrol. But at the same time diesel with veg is far too thick i found. If you check my old posts i was after a oil based thinner, all i found was turpentine which is mega buxx

not slating anyone buddy, just worried people may read adding 4ltrs of petrol to 20ltrs of veg as a good idea, it isnt unless temps are low, really low, as in less than minus 5 consistently. it has to get very low for veg oil to gel up(less for waste veg obviously). my arse will heal over before i put petrol in a diesel engine!! but each to there own i guess..

I still think my 50l of Diesel and 20l KTC is safest on the pump...:lol I don't know how you can stand the smell with more Veg...

I stopped out side a Fish and Chip shop the other day, and was asked to move, as people thought my offering smelt better and fresher than the shops.

I see what you mean, although interesting fact, neat veg oil gels at 0 degrees. I did make a previous post with ratios and gelling temperatures with petrol and diesel.

And yeah the veg stinks :doh my work is in a mews, and needless to say all the residents hate my terrano

veg doesnt gel at zero, tip some in a cup and experiment! its good to a lot less in real life, but as the climate these days can go from -4 one day to +11 within 24hrs i would think a thin mix too risky for my pump :augie:augie

Linseed oil seems to have the lowest gel point?

Wonder if we can use it? :naughty

Just checked.... Its mega bucks still

short answer is.
don't bother with svo.
its just a farce to save a few pence. and may cost you a lot more in the long run.
with knackerd fuel pumps. shit cold starting and all the wading through info on correct ratios.:nenau

Im not going join a cash and carry just to buy oil.and make special journeys to fetch it.

shop brought vo in local shops is generaly more expencive than diesel.
in fact me trucks got fuel in but I had to have friggin oven chips as I couldn't afford the 3 litres of cooking oil. 4.50 for me fryer.

I will stick with me 1.33 per litre diesel taa!
