Today I completed Phase 1 of my Honda CB400F2 rebuild project - getting the engine to run before I do the full strip down probably now in early 2021.

Purchased with a rattling cam chain so I wasn't expecting her to sound A1 - common issue with these engines.

Started pretty easily once the fuel was where it needed to be - upgraded to new Dynatec electronic ignition & Coils for this event as old coils were broken anyway.Very little smoke once I had burnt off what I had squirted down the bores!

First Scar from the Honda rebuild - even small burns hurt!

Today I decided to double check the flow of engine oil at the top end so after a brief engine run I removed one of the 8 camshaft Caps used for tappet adjustment access.

Undid said cap saw signs of excellent oils splashing - whilst replacing the Cap leaned my right hand against the exhaust manifold to steady the spanner - ouch and similar adjectives were in the blue air. My first manifold burn since I was a teenager.

It looks almost invisible but the pain was out of all proportion to the tiny little mark.

You and me both, had some spatter enter my toes, kicked out to remove it, banged my head in the process, two sources of pain Rick

That reminds me !!

Rick I laughed out loud with the picture you painted! Reminded me of an incident a few months ago when I went into to my garage to fetch another Beer.

A little bit of background is required here - my double electric door has been stopping a couple of inches short of fully open for the last few months - not every time but regularly.

It was night time I opened my garage door - driveway flood lit from above by the PIR I ducked to avoid the edge of the door as it was not fully open.
Selected a large 1664 and started to walk back out of the garage.

A combination of having had a drink plus the outside light being now out I found myself flat on my back on the garage floor. A nice red mark on my forehead from the door top edge -no blood or broken bones. I forgot to duck!

Good news was that there is some Astro Turf on the garage floor that cushioned my fall from grace and saved the 1664!

Had I been sober I think the fall would have been much worse!

Door fixed a week or so later - the canopy door lever arm replaced as it was worn out after 25 years of use.
