HI CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN HOW THE HILLMAN MINX manumatic BOX WORKED
the below was taken from a hillman minx ref .

For the automatic version, the Series I and II used a Lockheed Manumatic two pedal system (really only a semi-automatic)

your poss better asking on a landy forum
the clue is in the words "hillman minx" it's not a landy!the clutch on these models was operated by pressing on the end of the gearstick, or so i believe.

I think you pre selected the gear

ie changed from lo to hi then depress the clutch to change it.

try wikipedia, fountain of knowledge.

ref semi auto, driven buses that are such. had a joystick/mini gear stick.
usually a start position, then come of throttle and change up or down
thru ratios. far more control than being in D on a slush box, quite miss
them. no clutch pedal or hill starts to worry about.

Prior there were preselector boxes though never driven one but think as
described. gear selected, then clutch dipped and gear engages. think
could be driven on auto licence as despite a clutch didnt need to have
control ie demonstrate clutch biting point / hill starts etc.

one of the buses i drove a semi, would go thru gears each selected
'manually' but top even when selected didnt go in til bus for going
fast enough so a mixture of semi and preselect.

"try wikipedia, fountain of knowledge."
thats debatable

hi only dealings ive had with one of these was when we were being picked up from the pub one night .mate borrowed his dads hillman minx ,it wouldnt start so we push started it ,quite fun when you are pissed ,hence cannot remember much about it exept it was a mau/auto box that you could push start. i could remember it had a normal gear lever and thats about it.

think the semis could be bumped. funny father in law had hillman hunter, nice car
had overdrive when was a switch, (think), on gear knob/lever. drove a twin speed
axled bus but couldnt get it to change up so stuck at 40 on m-way.

years later when myself and a mate ran a garage we used to rent out cars by the day one of which was a hillman super minx .
we rented it to some fishermen to go up to whitby , it got them there ok but snapped a conrod on the way back , they drove it back the rest of the way 70 miles on 3 cylinders, i stripped it down and found the rod had snapped just above the big end and the piston had been thrown up to top of cylinder and there it stayed I put the bonnet down and sent it off to the scrap yard.
