evening all
just wondering how to adjust the tickover on a mistral 2.7 as its running slightly high around 1100 ? (no air con on)
it doesnt do it all the time though
its been high since we replaced the heater matrix if that helps
thanks :nenau:nenau

hmm...if it doesnt do it all the time, then i doubt adjusting the tick over will solve the problem.

If the heater matrix has been replaced, id be checking for any damaged pipes, air locks etc that may cause the car to idle to high. The idle screw however, is (i believe) on the drivers side of the engine near the throttle linkage. Peter (Briggie) and Rick (Solarman) will know for sure.

Yes agreed, the idle adjustment is on the lever on the pump, but if you have had the dash out have you maybe got the fast idle cable/knob in a bad route or kinked as this is the only connection I can find between removing the dash and idle problems, it could of course be pure coincidence and a separate fault has developed, Rick

Id say Rick may be onto something there. I suspect a good test is to adjust the dial under the steering wheel area. All the way to the left shoudl result in a certian RPM, where all the way to the right should result in a high rpm. I reckon if Peter goes out, and adjusts his left/right, notes down the RPM, that will help you figure out if its a kinked wire or not without taking the dash apart to find out :thumbs

How do you know where the tickover adjustment is on an XTrail then ladies?

:naughty

he was asking how to adjust the tickover on a mistral if you look at the first post :thumb2

just thinking .... you havent accidently altered the hand throttle have you ? ... it is on the right hand side of the steering wheel and lower down ... it looks like a choke lever

thats mine/Ricks suggestion Pete, and I wondered if you knew what the rpm shoudl be fully turned left, and rpm fully turned right, that way, he can determine if his hand throttle is working correctly, and not snagged like Rick says is possible,,,,see??:lol

with my hand throttle off completely .... the car shakes itself to bits and revs at about 300 rpm , with the hand throttle fully out it goes over 1300

bob on...

Aggy, thats a nice quick and easy test for you, at the very least it will elliminate the hand throttle as a likely cause.
