hi rick or any one with 2.4 petrol spares /has anyone got a fuel pressure regulator I can buy need as soon as possible thanks jeff:bow:bow

are you talking about the vac operated fuel pressure valve on the inlet manifold, if so yes I have, but what makes you think it is bad? Rick

hi my mate checked it when we sprayed it with maf cleaner testing for air leaks and when it was cold car tick over improved temporially also if you take the vac pipe off it starts to run better but when put back on idles ruff again but runs ok to drive but tick over crap

not sure you are in the right area here as this valve will not make any discernible difference to idle running, what are your symptoms? Rick

rough tick over stalls some times ticks over between 400 and 1500 revs
why doe it start ticking over normal when I disconnect vac pipe
 
are the mk1 terrano and mk2 engines the same do they use same fuel pressure regulators
 
removing the vac pipe closes the valve so gets full pump pressure, which is not needed at low revs and load, so sounds to me more like the pump in the tank is getting weak, only way to test is fit a tee piece in the fuel line and check the pressure, Rick

hi mate no2 spark plug keep fouling up with black oil /soot in about a month off driving other 3 good colour do you think rings on no 2 pistion could be nackerd causeing ruff idle ??

only way to prove that is a compression test but my guess is the injector is bad, you can prove it by swapping injectors, if you put no 2 into no 1 and no 1 soot's up then that proves it, if no 2 stays the same then could be valves etc, Rick

thanks mateim going tomates house Saturday he knows more about engines like you and I have asked him to do compression check
 
still running ruff

:eek:hi rick so we done compression check all about 170,so bought another throttle body,also had its maf still fitted cleaned it all up fitted it did not make any difference sprayed easy start over top injectors engine seamed to run better,so I fitted some new oring/gen Nissan,used the smallest amount off vaserline on orings when fitting ???was that bad idear it ran even more crap,so removed them re fitted old o ring and ran like it did before :eek::eek::nenauso cold it be pump pressure

yes could quite well be pump pressure, to test you will need a tee piece and short bit of hose to tee a gauge into the fuel line, from memory should be around 40 psi high 25 psi low, Rick
 
hi rick compression good fitted another throttle body complete with maf and idle parts and choke,but still runs crap :nenau:nenau
 
oops missed your last message my dads mate would probably have acess to these parts to test.is the pump fitted to top off tank would the tank have to come out how much do ya think pump would cost

way back at post 11 I said the same, check the fuel pressure, if you cannot do that then I have a good pump here £50 plus post and packing, but cannot be sure it will cure your problem without knowing your current pressure, just had a thought have you changed the fuel filter it is under the drivers door B post, Rick
