Hi people, its time to insure my new toy as I've had it a few days now and was wondering if any one knew of a good insurance firm for my Terrano. Thanks again.

Is it modified at all.

I use A-plan and Adrian Flux - both very helpful

what he said, plus, Direct Line are very good for me (by far the cheapest for me)

he said he can't insure me as im 24 :nenau

ive had my insurance a while with them now :S it did start off at £690 but managed to get them down only thing it doesn't cover me for is to drive other vehicles till im 25.

a lot cheaper than everywhere else I found £100 cheaper than flux

i use admiral multi car, if yoy got two vehicles just over £400 the maverick and a daewoo matiz with the wife included aswell

I insured with LV £240 fully comp Churchill who I insure another car with and my daughters car couldn't touch it. ( maybe it's because of my age LOL )

Well a good insurance company is one that deals with your claim efficiently, gives you a good write off price, if required...:doh , gets the vehicle repaired to a good standard, uses new parts, but some offer second hand parts :doh to match the age of the vehicle, which can be worse than what they are replacing, and sorts out all aspects of the claim to your satisfaction.

NOW ask the question again....:doh:doh:doh

Just getting the cheapest quote might mean you are legally insured, but if you are unfortunate to have an accident that wasn't your fault, then this is where the good and the bad are sorted out.

So from experience, can anybody recommend one?

I know Briggie had real problems about 2 years ago with his company.

So look at all aspects, the risk, how many years no claims etc.

For the Picasso, Direct Line offered the best quote, as we were also insuring my son and daughter for occasional use.
But for the Mav we use the same, get discount, but kids aren't on it. Wife is though, but I prefer her not to drive it.:nenau

Good luck,
Best regards,

Rustic

Insurance

Hi and thanks for your reply,I have rang them all and the best policy seems to be with the Flux so happy days, There's a good bunch of lads on this forum and am glad I joined. John Thanks again all. :thumbs

Just be aware if you insure with Adrian Flux they use a credit company if you pay monthly, if you want to cancel or change the policy before the due date the credit company still want there money, last year I had a V6 3.0 Signum which went back to the dealer because of faults (I'm not lucky with cars) and it cost me £180 to cancel.

I insure with NFU normally and thats who I am with now, they are not the cheapest but I cannot find a like for like policy anywhere else, even my trailer is insured through my truck, courtasy car as standard and if I change anything they do not charge a penny.

I had a bit of a to do with Adrian Flux over a cancelled policy (I'd paid the premium in full when I took the policy out, as I always do), I should have just let the policy run its course in hindsight, we live and learn......................:augie

As for using a "Main Name Company", well that's borrox too. My daughter had no end of grief off Direct Line, and has moved away from them
Write off value is not relavent to ins company, although they might try it on , dont be hood winked is all I can say on that front.
Free courtesy cars are not, we're all paying for it, so as far as I'm concerned the more of us that reject free cars the sooner prices will be more competetive. Legal cover is also rubbish, I used it once and found I did all the ruddy work anyway. You may also find you already have legal cover on your house insurance or the RAC for example.
Go for the cheapest, it will do what it says on the tin :thumbs

I'll be asking him in may when mine is due, fed up not having any car 3rd party which academy don't do. tho thought they weren't bad

Sure term direct I'm with! again it's a 4x4 insurance so covers me for greenlaning and off road driving

Sorry, I know this has been done to death... But...

As I see it, there are 2 distinct insurance requirements on this forum, the bulk standard, as it left the factory insurance, and the "I need to insure my lightly/highly modified T2"...

As I see it, once modified, even relatively minor things, you are limited as to who you can go to.

None of my mods seem to be a problem, but I still do 12K miles a year, and this seems to be a huge problem with the ones I have tried so far. The other problem, is the excess, now I understand the need for one, but £600, is silly, £250.. £300 at a stretch.

The companies I have found listed on here so far are:-

Adrian Flux (Seems to have a lot of bad reviews, and no real good ones)
Dave Brewer (very hard to deal with, responses take an age, and now it turns out, wont do over 7.5k/year)
Academy (Bad Reviews on here, no good ones)
Peter James
Sure term direct
Autonet

any extra input on these guys, or any others to add to the list?

adrian flux are very hit and miss, but what you will find more bad reviews than good as people will be more inclined to give one if they have a bad experience. But if someone had a good experience they will just carry on as normal and not bother to review them.

But yes if your vehicle is modded you have less choice. Even less if your under 25. Currently adrian flux are the only people who would insure me and I have read online they are now even turning away under 25s... Not sure how true this is. Luckily I will be 25 in july so will have more choice!

But most modded vehicles are weekend toys, so lower mileage allowance is not too much of a issue.
