Just a quick hello, recently bought myself a terrano 2, it needs a few things seeing too and I'm sure this forum with help, if there's anyone in my neck of the woods that could help me out with advice that would be great.

Bonsoir from N Dordogne, welcome to a very helpful forum with great folks.....:thumb2

The main thing is lack of power, engine runs sweet, just really slow acceleration and low power with a full load.

Hi & welcome to the madhouse. Lots of friendly banter and advice on here. After I joined about 4 or 5 years ago I almost immediately started saving money - I thought one of my cv joints was faffed, was looking at spending a couple of hundred pounds to get it fixed. Paid my £10, put a plea for help on here, it was suggested I lubed my steering stops - result! All it cost me was a blob of grease in four places. Had my £10 back over and over again.
I'm also in Bristol although my Terrano lives in Spain. I drove it down 5 years ago to use on our regular trips over there (the joys of retirement!) Had it put on to Spanish plates and it's been my daily drive ever since. When me 'n 'er aren't over there my daughter, who lives there with her family, use it as their main transport. It's been utterly reliable (it's done just a tad under 150,000 miles) with very little attention needed apart from consumables.
You've made the right choice of vehicle, now's the time to make the right choice of owners club - as they say, you won't regret it!

First thing to check would be your mini filter - if you pay your £10 membership there's a worksheet available that tells you where to find it and how to remove it, then it's just a matter of washing it in petrol or WD40 and sticking it back in (some members, me included, have not bothered to put it back, it was forever getting blocked with crappy Spanish fuel.

I will be coughing up the joining fee tomorrow then I can start to get some posts going.

That was my first thought, the air filter but it had just been serviced, didn't know there was another:thumbs

Welcome, we can sort out most issues on these trucks in this club, you get much more info and full access for just £10. :thumb2

Welcome mate

I'm the clubs most active Moderator here to help should you have any issues

Sounds like fuel starvation to me, I'd be going down the route of, fuel filter, banjo filter first and going from there

The mini filter is a fuel filter, it sits towards the bottom of the engine and is extra to the normal fuel filter which is part of the fuel pump.

Thanks for the welcome and tips already, will check it out tomorrow when I get paid

Top man, what year is it, we like photos on here.
These are a very capable vehicles in standard form, but plenty on here add bigger wheels and suspension lifts which help if you want more off road ability.

Lack of power, maybe maf?

Or air getting into fuel line as it gets sucked.from tank.

my first guess would be maf , followed by mini filter if it has one

I tried unplugging the Mac but no difference. Is the filter the big bolt in front of the first glowplug?

unplugging the maf made no difference ? ......that proves its faulty

For the sake of it, check the air box and filter, if you can get one, a fuel filter is an easy change too, make sure you fill it up with fuel to save hassle.

I recently bought a maf, if you do get one make sure it's a proper Bosch one not a dodgy Chinese one... Driven2automotive on eBay will have what you need, just give em the number off the maf.

It may be held on with two security screws, we used pliers to get mine out and then replaced with normal screws :thumb2
