to be honest it don't look that different , i still have to fit the spring lift i got from hb and me new wheels.

Looks good mate, but I'd get the number plates sorted or you'll have some pedantic cop or vosa pulling you (public road of course not your drive!).

Unreadable/non complying plates are hot stuff at the mo (have been for a while in fact).

As a rule of thumb , if a roadside camera can interpret them you'll be fine.

Interesting. Ive done my front bumper but not the rear yet cause i'm wondering how to get the number plate light sorted.
Im on the lookout for a square no plate holder.

looks good, i want an Abar like that too, for my T2..
and lights as well.

but yes number plate need moveing...

I saw one mounted on the spare wheel cover the other day. Quite clever and presumably a connector in line so you could lift it off :!:

trimmed mav

looking good extreme.what size rubber are you putting on under there?
ive got the 2" hb spring lift but the wheels ive got have a greater offset than standard rims so it does still catch on full lock.thats on stock size 235/75 /15 tyres and 30mm spacers.not really trimmed anything yet only mud flaps.when funds permit i'm gonna get some 31"muds so i might have to get the jigsaw out

the new jeeps have the number plate mounted on the spare wheel cover i think.

Hi extreme-4x4 can I ask why you have removed so much of your bumpers as your A bar & tow bar are the things that will give you probs :?

yes the tow bar is fully removable the electrics are mounted to the bumper above the step now. 10 mins to take off or add.... all new bolts,

the a bar, although i like it i think it will have to go eventually when the new winch bumper is made to set into the existing bumper. to allow a strong winch fixing and jacking points , possibly use the top section of a bar to add to it , but keep some of the ford bumper for looks

i think today's exercise was to see how much i could loose while still trying to keep it looking like a maverick

she looks like she is lifted already

i have left the step brackets on too, as i want to make some strong rock sliders to fix to them with jacking points

as for number plates yes i need some new ones possibly a sticker on the bonnet and a motorbike one on the back with a small light made up over it either on a light bar on the roof or where the ford badge is on the door, they really are not too hot on rules here in wales

i want to move the spare wheel too as i think 32" tyres wont fit on the existing bracket i have 31"mud tyres on the other jeep and they dont rub... but i dont mind cutting anyway

the main aim is to get this one up and as wide as i can but try to keep it looking like a big off the shelf truck and good on the road too

the only one im really unsure of is blocking the back windows in so its like a van... trouble is the kids will moan and it'l cost more on the bridge , and i hate giving them money

snorkel ordered , should be a week or so

went out tonight alone, big mistake... its my golden rule never go alone and got lost in the forest for 2 hours... but i decided i need lights to the side and back jsut to see its just black in there

and while lost i came up with a good plan... velcro reflective straps to put around trees or if your lazy drop some plastic flower pots with reflective tape around them out the window (sort of like dropping bread crumbs)

fancy that getting lost on a mountain that i live on

Nice one extreme4x4 you've gone same route with your truck as mine but mine is older and broken............
I got rid of the original mud flaps but put huge rally type ones on,cut bumpers too.
I'm looking for T2 arch trims now so can get wheels covered when spacers on.
I've been using a marine search light I got off ebay. It's the mutts when you cant see out the back Just stick it out the window and bingo day light 8O
It just plugs in ciggy lighter, with flood and spot beam. approx 150w
Keep us posted on the winch bumper,
good luck

just a thought !

anyone thinking of cutting plastic bits , i used a continuous diamond blade in a 4 1/2 " grinder like what i use for tiling .

it gives a clean sharp finish and dont damage any paint... access can be awkward so you might have to cut away waste first before final trim

dont rush take your time and draw it on first... make templates with paper to copy to opposite... nothing was removed for my cutting it was all done while fixed to the truck

Hello extreme4x4,

did you get your snorkel fitted ? What supplier / make / price was it ? Any photo's ?

Lee.

we have been designing one together ,and he is making one to fit a mav terrano,
its the top, stainless tube, then we are deciding wheather to go through the black scuttle panel or out and along the wing with another stainless tube

we have worked out all the angles etc needed,
but its basicly stainless and silicone hoses

with his tops and brackets

through the scuttle pannel is about 130.00 or along the wing is nearer 180-200

my preferance is the scuttle pannel so its less in your face and not sticking out so much

if anyone wants one let me know maybe screw the price down a bit , he is keen to make skid plates and rock sliders winch bumpers for the club . i did sugest he waited to speek to the new owner. and maybe advertise

Hello Bud,

not quite ready to order one just yet, but it is something that I am going to do. I've seen this done on a Patrol with blue silicon hoses for the bends and joints, and stainless steel pipe for the straight bits with a proper mushroom top. Looked quite smart.

yeah im not keen on the mushroom tops , a bit too agricultural for me
he has the correct angled top air ram ready, the connector for the air box . the original plan was as i say to go through the scuttle panel but this involves a complicated bend around and into the bonnet , and allowing room to open the bonnet when fitted i have the flexy hose for that here but thats 60.00 a metre (most colours) so you have to change to cheap black flexi air hose in the bonnet to keep the price down

i have almost exhausted the options for using a safari top air ram
they look the muts nuts but its a totally different set up with fatter hoses and tubing thats why i chose the southdown route

its a good product for the money

your all welcome to add your thoughts though

snokel

yes i see that pic and for most it would do the job for 300 quid

trouble is it is in your face and big . i know its there for a purpose and it would prob look better with a safari top but then your up to 370.00 so it gets silly then

i have even thought about .
air scoop on the roof but youd need a lot of hose and prob too much to suck air in

i want one and need one cos im dangerously deep a lot but
but its got to be slimline

anyone tried fitting between wing and inner wing then up similar to defender

or straight into cab up the windscreen pillar then out roof with a mr2 type scoop on roof behind passenger door

you could then put an in line water /dirt catch trap inside the cab

beleive me i have looked everywhere for possible air routes on these trucks
