ongoing saga of my wipers..... well have now changed the wiper motor and now the column switch AND........ it is still broke :(:(:(

I AM NOW OUT OF IDEAS COMPLETELY....guess it could be a wiring fault but think I may need the help of an auto electrician or else the dreaded main dealer :doh:doh:doh

Anyone have an idea what to do now (sensible suggestions please) I am just a bit hacked off as this wiper issue is now really getting me down :confused::confused:

Ya only in Rayleigh so if it's ok with "tezzer" pop round to his & I'll pop round & we can all bang our heads together & see if we can sort it :thumbs

If not :nenau

Call Paul Nash on 07071500100
His a close friend & A1 Mechanic :thumbs

thanks ADZ.... luckily I am off work next week so will call him :thumb2

I am told by Nissan there is no relay on the later trucks... thats why I got another switch as I believe all the techy stuff is built in???? In honesty the bits are 2nd hand but do look good and whats the odds on the new bits having the same problem as the old ones??? It happened in the snow when the wiprs got 'stuck; whilst they were wiping when a big lump of snow came off the roof down the window and stopped the wipers mid wipe.... I am stumped now:nenau:nenau

sounds like relay or wirings only things left to play with lol

Thats why you should clean your vehicle before setting off :doh
For safety & needless damage :doh

You sure you haven't buggered the motor

Well I did try a 2nd hand one which seems to do the same things???? My money was on the motor which is why I tried that 1st.... dread to think how much a new one is :(

Well if "tezzer" doesn't mind :nenau then we'll meet up round his :thumbs

Have a look at the wires going to the fuse, when they stopped it may have over loaded the contacts where they plug into the fuse.

there are no relays :nenau

mine has none for the indicators either , all done by a box of tricks

Glad you posted that
Just realised his got an ecu :doh
I so love the pre 96 :D

Any ideas what the 'box of tricks' is??? I am wondering if the ECU is buggered? Not sure if the ECU controls the wipers tho.... ADZ i will call teezer and see if he can help.... will see when he is free

Never heard of an ecu controling the wipers ive removed ecu from many cars and the only thing it stops is the engine everthing else works fine.Dont know if the terrano has one but most modern cars have a Body Control Module which controls electrics in cars

It's all on this page, the WIPER AMP in the bottom r/h corner the control unit...

Fuse 6 and Fuse 21, could well be the problem, it depends what works, so check them both

I have been studying the wiring diagram and it looks like the unit IS in the switch from the diagram (as it calls it a 'combination' switch and looks like the amp is in there from the digram)????... I popped into my local repair shop and they are willing to look at it for me but they are not a Nissan specialist but as long as I supply the wiring diagram they will look..... Tomorrow I am going to call 'TEZZER' as ADZ thinks he may be able to help, but before that I am going to disconect the battery (might help :nenau as electrics are all a bit odd on later trucks) then check ALL connections and fuses again... I did try another switch (if its all built in it may not be the controller?) to no avail and another motor.. havnt tried the 2 together tho:doh:doh

This problem is really trying my patience...still I WILL get there in the end
