Last night 1830 the T2 started no problem Drove about half mile the car cut out engine light on, not electric, tried to lift clutch to re-start did not start pulled in a lay by turned key the car started so drove home with engine management light on parked top of drive had to go out so swapped cars. Come home 3 hours later car turns over but will not fire. -7c

Glow plugs????? New. I will check connection.

Fuel frozen may be but it ran half mile stopped and re-started back Half mile.


Battery new

possibly fuel frozen ( waxed up ) in fuel pipes , you will have had a little fuel in the filter /system .....no harm in checking glow plugs too , only about £12 each .....good luck mate

wont be glow plugs that cause the cut out as they wernt needed once the engine is warm.

hopefully fuel has waxed unless you have filled up last week or so then it should be treated already at the pumps

any problems with your ignition switch? common fault but since a diesel technically doesn't need a battery to run I'm not sure if thats the problem (or is the fuel pump electric?)....

If it IS the switch you might have experienced starting problems (clicking instead of turning over)...simple replacement of the backplate only solves it.

up-date on starting

Its started four five go's the diesel filter was only fitted about 4000 mile ago but the car is off road six month.so might change when the weather warms up,I have put some SLICK 50 Diesel treatment in tank. and warmed her up for half hour will keep starting every couple hours to be fair its cold and its not getting any younger

Jim i can do most things but reading code not sure,will have read, wife might understand better than me if she reads i will test,??? yes the engine light still on will it go off on its own. my mate as a snap on reader but do not think he can do nissan

The other thing is we have no breakdown so will get some tonight first time ever.will not do proper test till we have cover to heavy to push.

I did how lucky was I last week on local radio they were asking for people with 4x4 to help with taking people to hospital shopping this week no one would give a sh..t if i broke down and in the summer it will be ban the gas gusslers.

who's your insurance with ? they can sometimes beat direct quotes for recovery. All you need is get me home cover, then you can come on here and we'll fix it for you

M&S We normaly do have cover,but lots happening i blame wife twice now we have used a local firm £20 each time.lap top been broke swapping cars on and off road one for summer one for winter

nah, quite often self extinguishes with simple faults. in fact even on some serious faults it only stays on for i think its 50 starts?
