Top man.... thank you.... any reason why it would get all melted?

Poor connections can overheat the contacts, but also a fault with the wiper motor... Does that still work, ie dual speed etc?

What year is the truck, is it a td or Tdi

The wipers work perfect mate, the only thing that doesnt is my RPM gauge.... the truck is a 2001 TDI se+ auto

It looks like dialectic grease on the plugs, nothing to worry about.:thumb2

yes defo wiper motor later model, if it works OK do not worry about it, it does look like the plastic may have got a bit hot, so on those two terminals on the plug see if you can crimp them in a little in order to improve the connection, Rick

Might be barking up the wrong tree here but I know you are not meant to squirt the washers for too long, perhaps the plug was overheated due to prolonged use of washers? :nenau

Alex you are certainly " Barking" :doh...

You are right that squirting the washers for too long can be a problem...
This of course has nothing to do with the original topic.
However, if you follow the post, it was about the windscreen wipers and the plug that attaches to them.

The windscreen wipers are those two arms with rubber type blades on them that sweep across the windscreen to remove water and debris from the windscreen.

The windscreen washers are a device for pumping jets of water onto the windscreen to help remove any dirt from the screen.

In fact.... using washers on an otherwise dry windscreen will actually reduce the power to the windscreen wipers, as there is less friction between the blade and the now wet screen.

I heard that Alex was helping a friend check his indicators the other week...:doh
Alex was telling his mate what was happening.
Now they are working...
Now they are not...
Now they are working...
Now they are not...

Clearly Alex put this down to an intermittant fault...
:lol:lol:lol:lol

I put it down to something else...:augie
