A diff always gives more torque to the side that is spinning faster.QUOTE]

I would agree as power goes out via the least resistance, so the spinning wheel is easier to turn than a stationary wheel.
Solution, stop and bring the drive in gently.

I'm on the case today, having had to tow out my T2 with a Freelander (with a flat tyre)!!!!

New brake rings anyone??

i had to get towed up a hill by a jeep in my maverick :lol

you can use the brakes as a helping hand with the front if you are spinning the 1 wheel apply the brakes and it confuses the diff to think you have traction at all wheels so will turn them

nice trick. will have to remember that

i learnt that on a training course with a land rover without using the locking diff :thumbs

just remeber it isnt alot of brake power you need lol

I'm liking the sound of that. Although teaching the Mrs how to do it could be a marriage-breaker!!

but you will need 4wd as you have lsd so it wont make a difference in 2wd lol

So Nissan want £60 ish for a new spring and brake set. On the other hand, I could fit manuals and have done with it.

So just before I splash the cash, if I remove the hubs and select 4wd, will I be able to see the drive shaft turning, thus indicating that is definitely a hub problem?

In theory yes, but you'll need to run fast to keep up with it.

Don't need to select 4 wheel drive just rotate the front prop shaft by hand, you can get to it from underneath.

Right peeps,

Just about to fit manual AVMs, but looking at the download I can't suss out which bits to refit onto the drive shaft. Can anyone advise?

Ha!!!!! I laugh in your face Nissan, with your 60 odd quid for a brake ring set. Just fitted manual hubs and tested them - 4wd now working again!

Thanks for the advice people. Bring on the snow now, arctic wind-related cold front!!!
