Hello,
Can anyone help please?
The remote control key fobs are not working at the moment so I am having to lock/unlock the Terrano using the keys however, when I unlock the Terrano with the keys as soon as I open the door the alarm goes off, I then have to stick the key into the ignition to turn the alarm off which is a bit of a pain in the ass!
Does anyone know how to deactivate the alarm so I no longer have to go through this cycle everytime I unlock the Terrano with the keys.
I have tried to reprogramme the remote fobs but unfortunately this has not worked and I would rather not have to go to a garage and pay garage prices to have it sorted when I can quite easily live without remote central locking and the alarm.
Thanks
Shane

If you have NATS 1 I can tell you how to overide it, but you need to find the box first, I think it is behind the glove box but not sure, we do it on the Primeras for bangering so everything is stripped out, and it is the same system, it is simply changing some connectors on the unit, but only NATS1 NATS2 cannot be done< Rick

Not sure if I have NATS 1 or 2, how you tell? My terrano is a '98' Model so would this be NATS 1?
Regards

New bats in the Fobs and leave the bats out for an hour, Rick

Probably NATS1 but the only way to tell is look at the box and give me the numbers, but try the bats first, Rick

It's almost definitely the key fob. There are some small micro switches inside of it that are very weak, and as the battery in the fob gets weaker people instinctively push the buttons harder exasperating the problem.

I have had a couple of fobs sucsesfully repaired by a guy on Ebay for around £30.00.

This is the seller I used...

I would try this before tampering with the alarm system.
