Hello,
Can anyone help please?
The remote control key fobs are not working at the moment so I am having to lock/unlock the Terrano using the keys however, when I unlock the Terrano with the keys as soon as I open the door the alarm goes off, I then have to stick the key into the ignition to turn the alarm off which is a bit of a pain in the ass!
Does anyone know how to deactivate the alarm so I no longer have to go through this cycle everytime I unlock the Terrano with the keys.
I have tried to reprogramme the remote fobs but unfortunately this has not worked and I would rather not have to go to a garage and pay garage prices to have it sorted when I can quite easily live without remote central locking and the alarm.
Thanks
Shane

Timpsons and other locksmiths will do the key programming job much more cheaply......

Mine too does this if I use the keys.... reading the handbook I think it is supposed to do it !!! Something to do with the security system but not good for the neighbours at 6:30 in the morning !!!

My alarm works the same as Shanes. Unlock driver's door, open and alarm activates. Key in the ignition, turn & alarm goes off.
What is the alternative if you get Timpsons or similar to programme the key? What info do they need to do this?
Cheers - Paul

Never done it but a few on here have......they have a website, just give them a bell and they'll tell you. I gather its no big drama. :thumb2

I'm just copying this in from a recent post and response I made about the same thing. Nissan Key Fobs are crap, but repairable...

It's almost definitely the key fob. There are some small micro switches inside of it that are very weak, and as the battery in the fob gets weaker people instinctively push the buttons harder exasperating the problem.

I have had a couple of fobs sucsesfully repaired by a guy on Ebay for around £30.00.

This is the seller I used...

I would try this before tampering with the alarm system.

Same thing happened to me when I acquired my Terrano with 2 duff remotes. I had to get the keyfob repaired to deactivate the alarm.

All you can do at Timpsons (I know cos I did) is get a new key cut and they will supply a matching transponder in the key which allows manual use (like a spare with no key fob) only.... will unlock and start the car etc so good for an emergency back up.... especially if you only got 1 key with the car :nenau

Useful clarification MMan - nice one. By the sound of it, that also means the alarm doesn't go off, as happens if you use a knackered key fob...?? So the only thing you lose with this option is remote lock/unlock??

And lastly how much did they stiff you for the job?

Nope....blooming alarm still goes off as the key is manual only, does everything the same as using the fob type as a key only (does that make sense??).... thinks it was less than £30 all in which was a LOT better than the £120 the main dealer quoted :eek::eek: mind you that was for one with the buttons but hey, I have one with buttons so was an expensive solution for a spare..... My fob key blade is quite worn now buit have seen blanks on Fleabay for not a lot so may well just change the shiny bit and get a new one cut as it looks like you can change the button bit over???

well unless you're an expert in surface-mount soldering, its still cheaper than £120!:thumb2

I got a remote from this guy and it reprogrammed OK. It was £25 delivered. He was on ebay but I can't find him now. May be worth a try.

Mine is the later one where the remote is in the key......:( You have to relace the entire thing hence £120+ from Nissan....I have seen the blank keys (without the remote part) for about £5 on E bay

I had my fob replaced by nissan dealer for £44 including vat and programing. :clap
