As you've been at a pay and play it would be a good idea to check your rad for mud too before it sets hard.

You say you've got a winch and cance of a piccy or 2 of how you've got it mounted, have a you put a second battery on etc - might be best to start a new thread for wnch stuff though.

time for a snorkel

Wouldn't have helped it was electrics that stopped me.

Don't get me wrong I want one but it has to be the right one, bits of drain pipe don't float my boat and have too many joints in for my liking.

nowt wrong with my cheapo snorkel

Quite partial to water myself - sent long enough in it last summer during the floods. I was transporting police officers around flooded estates on hearts and minds type operation to reassure everyone.

Only got one vid of me in water

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/sptbentley/Videos#5079620978750213682

The day before I did it in the other direction and the water was above the armco each side. Theres then a junction up the road and the road down there is deeper still, its an area that is flooded deliberately as part of the flood defences.

Yesterday was the first time I've come unstuck, it was just the slow drop in. In retrospect I should have looked at it cos that ford just wasn't on that day, if the engine hadn't drowned I'd probably have been washed down stream, which is why no one else had a go. Beween, tyres, springs and body lift mines about 5 or 6" taller than standard and I've had the headlights under but only when moving, if you stop that deep without a snorkel you're in trouble. Have stopped with the wheels well and trully covered in the floods, door seal held ten - they didn't yesterday, passenger footwell filled up really quickly..

Hi hummingbird
Check the body mount bolts in the foot wells. I had the same issue at the weekend could not understand why the foot wells where filling up so quick i found that since fitting the body lift the bolts that are in the foot wells are not sealed letting in water.

One question HB, what happened to the Galaxy coming in the opposite direction when you came out of the flood. He looked to be going a bit fast to stop in time 8O

Jim T

He stopped and turned round. That road is the one for Fairburn Ings Jim if you know it. Theres a 3/4 mile straight round the corner so I was able to see him appear in the mirror before I got to the end of it. I haven't heard if it flooded at the moment, but couldn't go down if it was as no alternator.

GB3HD came in real useful when limping back with no alternator and making arrangements with the other guys, one of whoms at Holmfirth, he rang Alison and was on standby with a spare battery, another dropped back from 3 junctions ahead to help escort me, whilst another was with me all time but as non licensed could only listen. CB didn't cut it, simplex was good on 2m but as sson as we got into HD we were laughing.

Sounds like MAF has died.

When mine went I struggled to get to 60mph on dual carriageway 8O

After fitting new MAF which cost £30 odd it was a flying machine.

If there is no change with MAF unplugged it is (U/S) unserviceable. Forget trying to clean them it don't work, I don't care if anyone says it does, it ain't worth the hassle. 8O.

If i think i'm going anywhere near deep water I spray some stuff (not WD40 but like it) on the leads and plugs and distributor. Never had a problem yet and I have had water over the bonnet.

Iz been looking for a snorkel...

Hello Stephen

Yes we can supply you with a snorkel to fit a Nissan Terrano

The snorkel is actually listed for a Ford Ranger but we know from experience, and from selling to customers in Greece, Romania and here in UK, that the 121P snorkel does fit the Nissan Terrano. We currently have 1 in stock.

The price is £205.97 excluding VAT.
Carriage is normal £10.50

Please e-mail or telephone me with your credit card details (and address where the card is registered/delivery address) to confirm your order.

With kind regards
Liz

am now tring to get a pic so i can see in on a T2

The new MAF sensor sorted it all working great again. Will have to start saving for snorkel and stop being too silly in the mean time.

Having a snorkel won't help you MAF sensor or other electrics

Now you know how deep you can go, keep practicing the bow wave technique
and have fun.
