Hi All. Need help.
Been trying to change out the suspect starter motor on my Maverich 2.7TD. Accessed lower motor bolt from wheel arch, took off intercooler so you could at least see the top bolt. Scraped knuckles but bolts are all out. Starter sitting loose in the area, but won't go towards the front of vehicle enough to clear the clutch bell housing so I can turn it and try to get it out via wheel arch or top.

Just needs another 1/2" but fowling on something solid.

What else do I need to do.

Yes they do come out but a lot of fiddling about, in my early days with a Terrano I could have one out in less than 20 mins, now I really struggle, Rick

Sounds like you are pretty much there Although it is a nightmare the first time you do it it does get easier. Having said that, my repeated removals and installs, I seem to have pushed out of memory bank. Probably due to the stress of it all. However I vaguely recall removing it in an upward direction after a bit of jiggling.

I've always found bending the bracket that the front brake line connects to frees up enough room to pull it out.

It's fiddly as hell but it's deffo doable :thumb2
