Ok so this is what I found... Everything all looks dry.. From what I can see anyway :nenau leak off pipes look bone dry (again from the ones I can see)

The oil filter is bone dry... Oil level is also fine..

I did wipe n sniff the fluid but I'm not sure myself

Here is a shot of sump bolt and surrounding area

Is the front prop-shaft wet around the UJ? I wonder if you have a leaking seal at the front diff' that's spraying oil onto the NS driveshaft flange & sump?

Or.........a leaking driveshaft seal? There's a pressed-in cap that prevents oil loss when the front drive-shafts are removed. I wonder if that's failed. There's no seal on the actual drive-shaft joint itself............it seems to be a light enough colour for diff oil. Don't forget, gearbox & diff oils never see burnt hydrocarbons, so tend to remain light in colour

Are these easy fixes? :doh

Drive-shaft is a pain to get out as the hub needs to be removed, but it's simple enough. Diff oil seal I've never had to do, so no idea :nenau

That is, of course, if either of those are the problem...........

Edit: Just had a thought! If it's the driveshaft oil seal it should be a piece of cake as you won't need to remove the drive-shaft........you'll just need to remove the 6 bolts & move it out of the way

Looks like oil to me, still think it may be spilt oil from filter or filter needs nipping up

I really hope so. I did look from the top and got some light on the filter, it looked dry to me, or atleast the side of the filter I could see.

In regards to spillage its interesting, obviously oil and filter is messy, and this is the first long journey and high speed ive done, perhaps if oil was trapped and only speed could get it out ( i e wind)

Still though the colour is quite light too :(

Doctor doctor!!! :p

Oh yeah, I will also check ground when I go out this morning as I have parked further back and ground was dry :thumb2

We went out to a supermarket last light and parked up in a dry bay, when we came out about 40 mins later it was still bone dry. Interesting :doh

Alex, are you are WorryWart?

Worry Wart

AKA Worrywart - Someone who is always worrying about everything, whether it is a big deal or unimportant.

A Worry Wart "I don't know guys, I don't think we should go to Burger King, I've heard bad things about that place."

Someone Else "Shut the **** up and stop being such a worry wart.

Lol wont be unimportant if my engine or gearbox runs out of oil :augie

As it turns out, looks like from what we can see the leak off pies had a good spew :nenau they are now not leaking again but the trail leads right to them.

The only thing the technician could suggest is that the lack of clips on the hoses combined with the high speed driving for a prolonged period on the veg would have thinned the fuel nicely, enough to leak out of the pipes, thus I need come clips :lol

Where did you get the leak off hose from? Did you read my thread on the stuff I bought?

Can't say I remember your thread :nenau

I bought genuine nissan ones, we replaced the front one and used lock wire and one remaining clip (most were butchered)

These leak off pipes were spares rick had. I'm debating if clips are needed or perhaps the pipes are not so great. Strange how it is now dry as a bone though :nenau

My 90mph (track day ) seems to have made it leak?

Best thing to do would be to pressure wash the whole engine & the under side down as it'll make tracing the oil leak easier:thumbs Did you wash down the N/S of the engine & the front diff after doing the oil change ? as any spilt oil takes ages to stop dripping:augie

Funnily enough I gave it a spray under bonnet th day before my long trip and no I haven't cleaned it since oil and filter but this was golden not black, as spillage would be black right?
