so no green laneing for you then lolol

I am not so sure about that, i have been thinking all day about fitting some BFG all terrains and a bullbar.

But there is not only the price of the new tyres to justify, but the scrapping of the 4, no five including the spare brand new road tyres fitted by the previous owner to sell the car.

Does green laning mean living with dents and scratches?:lol

get a spares set of cheapp steel wheels and some remould mud yres and just put them on at the weekends :thumb2

I was thinking along those lines, but i have no where to store the wheels that were not in use and the trolly jack i would have to buy.

And i know it would soon become a real chore.

Why not get some good A/Ts then, like BFGs and sell the roadies:D
Green lane should not equal dents but quite likely to scuff the paint on twigs n that:sly

OR ..... BUY ANOTHER TERRANO PURELY FOR GREEN LANING /OFF ROADING / PLAYING WITH MODS :thumb2

I would if i could afford to:D
My ten year old 155,000 miles Transit will need replacing soon.
The blinking exhaust fell off this morning, well at least half of it anyway.
which means a trip to kwik fit in the morning.

Have decided to treat myself to some ATs in a few weeks and will probably stick the existing tyres in the loft.

I really wanted to get some BFGs as my dad used to have them on his grand vitara and i really liked the look of them.

But after reading a lot of reviews on them they apparently are not great in the wet, and i will be doing a lot of motorway miles in this to various hft comps.

So i am leaning towards Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S G012.
Any one have any experience of these tyres.

i have some experience of bfg's and geolanders, w ehad geolanders on my wifes grand vitara as BFG tyres weren't made in the correct original size, we had no issue with the Geolanders through all weathers including snow, and daily off road driving on wet fields and mud. But make sure you get the go12 not the older models as the latest ones are much diferent and much better, many reviews say they are slightly better han BFG at's off road, and to be fair on road they are miles better, they are very quiet and don't throw up a shower of grit and stones under your arches like BFG's

Thanks, i think that has sealed it.

One last question if i may,

My terrano is currently running on 235/70-16 road tyres and this is the tyre size reccommended in the manual.

They do geolanders in this size but also do them among other sizes in 245/70-16.

Will the 245s fit without alterining the arches in anyway or am i better off sticking to the 235s.

Thanks again.

i don't know the absolute answer on this but i would have thought it would make very little difference abot 4mm on each side of the tyre.

but on the other hand, is there any advantage? personaly i would think about sticking to the original size as it avoids and possible complications wih insurance.

if you are experimenting with a different size why not go for something cheaper, check ebay for deals on tryes, and with a more aggresive tread pattern?

geolanders ain't cheap, bear in mind you could get many other tyre brands and sizes for the same or less money. for example i have found General Grabber AT2 work out slightly cheaper and BFG about the same price!

and last, phone around and do price comparisons before you shell out your cash. most tyre fitters can get any tyre you choose and will try to beat a competitors price.

but bear in mind this is all only my opinion :thumbs

Thanks, i will stick with the 235s.

I was planning on ordering through these people as they use a garage very close to me.

i think that was the same size as the vitara and we paid about £90 a tyre fitted and balanced, so you save over £40 on the 245's. I would still try and hagggle though see if you can get them for even a fraction less it's all cash in your pocket. I would also get a free tracking check done at the same time, no good putting a set of new tyres on if the tracking is out!

I remember running them through a whole winter and some of the summer about 7 months in all, unitl we sold the car, and they still looked like new!!
