Hi my name is Kelley (i am a fella), and i picked up my new to me 53 plate Nissan Terrano yesterday.


I am really pleased with it so far and think it drives beautifully.
A couple of minor niggles i need to sort out with time, but as said only minor.


I am sure of (i think) how to engage four wheel drive in hi and low and vice versa, but what i am not sure about is after returning to two wheel drive do i then have to drive in the opposite direction for one meter to unlock the diffs.

As i think this is what it says in the manual.

What i know about mechanics you could write on a postage stamp, so that is all greek to me.

they look like auto hubs to me, other wise the bit where is says NISSAN would be a sort of handle (to manually turn the hub!)

thing is, the new models changed a bit, so im not 100% sure if you have to reverse to disengage the 4 wheel drive! (its in my mind you dont)

welcome i'd say fixed hubs, so no reversing just unlock on transfer lever
into 2wd. all of front end will spin all the time but as free at front
of transfer box remains 2wd to rear wheels.

check lacroupade, done a lot of work on when the auto hubs were dropped
for fixed.

Thanks, mine is a Mk IV based on the info and it also has the sticker on the visor so no getting out to manually unlock or reversing to unlock the diffs. This is happy days for me.

Although despite my having the mechanical know how of an untrained monkey and not understanding how this or any other version of the terrano work i did get the impression that this was not as good as the auto hubs system as far as 4 wheel drives go.

The reason for buying my TII was i shoot HFT and wanted a car that was big enough and capable of carrying me and all my gear across a muddy field and would also be able to get me home in the snow.

I think i saw a terrano with a Nissan 4x4 owners club sticker at basingstoke air rifle club recently.

I live near uxbridge HARLOWMAVRICK.

As much as i would love to get it real dirty it is not only my only car but it is the newest, cleanest, nicest car i have ever owned and i would like to keep it that way.
As i figure if i look after it i will get many years of good service from it and i already have one expensive hobby.

But i really love it, and may (hopefully) give it ago in the future.
