Hi All, just found where you all are so a big hi from me. The reason I was looking is because I need some advise about my Maverick 2.7td - even with a good battery and a booster connected the car still sounds like it has a flat battery, I am presuming it is the starter motor, could any body help me with this and where to source a sensibly priced replacement (and some advise on how to get to the offending item in the car!!). Thanks in advance.

try looking at the battery terminals the brake!!

or earth leads to battery and engin block...

starter moter is best got at from wheel arch. remove the inner liner.. simples

but look at terminals and eath first.... cheaper!!

Mine and others did the exact same thing in winter. Mine and others turned out to be the starter motor. As Zippy says check the cable too, positive battery lead seems to be weak where it goes into the battery terminal.

PS Welcome aboard, now get ya tenner spent and get stacks more advice and banter:thumbs

Starter 2

Mine was the starter. Took it off put it on a battery it had a job to turn, :doh Got a service exchange put that on turned the key and the starter stayed still and the jeep spun round :thumbs :lol Jobs a good un

agreed, we've all had it recently, and its not a bad job to do to be honest. cost wise your talking anywhere between 80 and 150 squid, but if i were you, i'd buy new. mine cost me i think about £90 brand new and its been spot on. remove starter from engine bay, trust me, its fits, JUST, you have to undo a few pipe clips, gain access form above and through wheel arch. a second pair of hands helps. them jimmy it up by the oil dip stick and its out, do the reverse for fitting the new one, then access again through wheel arch, second pair of hands whiel you get the two bolts in and away...takes a good hour or so, and most of that will be twisting the starter out. if you are lucky, you will be abel to get it out via the wheel arch, but i doubt it, if you look, the brake pipes are in the way. If you pay a garage to do it, they will simply do the same as you but charge you for it, or in Jims case, break your car in the process.
