Hi guys I got a mistral about 8 months ago but its been off the road since i got it, im going to clean it up and run it I think.....:clap

woo hoo another mistral owner !!!! :thumb2 , fantastic trucks :thumb2

welcome mate, why have you not been running it, is it broke? Rick

I already have a car and a van, and I went to away for 3 months so it hasnt been a priority.
but there is a problem wth the Mistral yeah  , the auto box only seems to change into 1st and 2nd, also the changes are slightly jerky and it seems like it is holding onto the gears a bit before changing. I might try a fluid change and looking through the manual thats on here.
Any of you guys have any suggestions ?:nenau help would be appreciated

drop briggie a PM, hes aauto box. and lived with a few " troubles"

on your dashboard there is a 3 position switch , if that is lit up its in power mode so it will feel like its only in 1st and 2nd and also take 3 years to change gear ( seems like it anyway lol ) .... make sure the switch is in the centre ....( auto mode )..... check atf fluid ( very very important ) ... the dipstick is slightly lower than the engine dipstick and towards the bulkhead ..

to avoid jerky gear changes , just ease off the pedal , it will then change gear

anymore advice on this amazing piece of japanese engineering , drop me a pm

to add further .... the mistral is not a tyre smoking truck , if you put your foot down hard on the loud pedal , you will achieve nothing apart from it going into power mode, then you have to flick the switch back to the centre ... pain in the glutimuss maximus ....it teaches you how to drive all over again ...... fantastic car :thumb2....... love mine to bits

welcome to the club, briggies advice will see you right, my t2 is an auto and i find lifting my foot a bit when the revs go up makes gear changes alot smoother

sound another scouser with a mistral am in bootle , where about r ya we could meet an moan together :lol:lol

:clap I checked the power button, flicked it to the middle position and it seems ok, so thanx again B, couldnt drive it too far as no MOT but its now booked in for one on thursday so fingers crossed, its only done about 10 miles since the last one ( due to the previous owner thinking the gearbox was knackered !!! :doh ) so hopefully it'l' pass.

Im Living in Garston. Not sure if the cars going to be a keeper yet as im short on space at the moment, and due to a change of career plans now have a surplus merc sprinter im going to sell.

In the mistral the dash seems to vibrate a bit on the passenger side when idling, is there any way of increasing the idl speed a bit ?

Also the speedo isnt working is this a common fault ?

loads of questions I know but one more please ? whats the correct tyre presure meant to be ?

to increase the idle speed , you have a control on the right of your steering wheel that looks like a choke .... its actually a hand throttle :thumb2

Could also be that the plum who changed the speedo on import, didn't fit the dash back properly. Esp as the speedo isnt working?:augie

ok, choke Ill try it :thumb2

I worked in Spain for a few months and did a 4 hr round trip to Barca almost every day in a cabstar, I worked with a Romanian chap who used to pull the choke out on the motorway as he thought it was cruise control !

when I discovered him doing this I advised him against it for obvious reasons !!

Yeah think you're right about the dash, he probably had a handful of screws left over after fiting the spedo !

its not a choke .... its a diesel car ..... its a hand throttle
