Ever since I got the Maverick I’ve known that the steering is on the heavy side compared to previous Terranos that I’ve had. It’s only at slow speeds and is fine once moving but of course it would be.
The belt doesn’t squeal and the fluid seems clean enough and doesn’t smell burnt in the reservoir.
I’d love to get to the bottom of it.

Never had much to do with power steering on the T2 as never had one go wrong, from your description I would say either the pump is worn or the pressure regulating valve is worn or not seating properly, I would guess the valve is in the pump but cannot say for certain, not sure if I have a pump in the workshop or not, if I have then at some point in the not too distant future I will strip it down and have a look see, there is also a valve in the box and could also be worn but if it was I would expect play in the box and you have not mentioned this, Rick

Do you get any noise from the pump lock to lock when stationary?
