Have you had a look at the Replacing the cabin filter (Terrano II SE) in the downloads? it's in the quick links section, it may help you.

hello rosie, i had the same trouble with my t2 and it was the thermostat, also the viscos unit on fan can play up iirc and cause fan to over cool as it were. someone may be able explain better. :augie

The pollen filter will restrict air flow and if you don't know when it was last replaced I would replace it. If the air flow is restricted any heat inside the heater matrix wont be blown through into the car, you may also notice the windows steam up quickly too. My T2 has never really been very warm unless you go on longer trips with a few hills to make the engine do some work. An old style diesel engine like ours doesn't get hot unless it's doing some work.

I tried blocking off half my radiator and it still made no difference to the engine temperature

I did have a 88 degree thermostat fitted a few years ago which did make a difference but i swapped it back for the 82 degree one in the summer when i was towing. I lost the other thermostat and Nissan stopped making one and I havent found one since.
One of the problems is the fact the cooling system was designed for off road hard work at low speed so it is too efficient.

im thinking of fitting a kenlowe fan, i've got every thing but the seal for top hose, but have found a supplier now so may have it done for summer, they reckon you get a few more horses by taking the fan off, anyone fitted a kenlowe fan, much difference?, worth doing etc, :thumb2

Yes definately- certainly a faster warm up, and 1-3mpg improvement in mpg- especially in these temps.

And none of that annoying roaring fan on startup.

I fitted one in the summer, and the bloody thing hasnt turned on once since testing, such is the capacity of the terrano cooling system for absorbing heat.

Tim.
