Really strange one, think my terrano was telling me off for being an idiot :augie

Headlights were not on.. Got to a roundabout with solid traffic we are in right lane, so I went through and decided to go left out of london into a40, as I steered sharply left it gave me a single beep! Like. One second sample of the headlight beep if you leave em on with keys out.

Any ideas gurus? :nenau

Is my terrano a transformer? :naughty

Anti vibration bar in the steering wheel come loose

Hmm don't turn sharply left then:lol:lol:lol no idea what caused it:nenau

my mistral used to beep for all sorts of warnings .... brakes etc ...... you sure its lights ?

bearing in mind you have had recent steering issues, and the fact that the wheel has a coil of wire inside, the thought comes to mind that your coil is not central when in the straight ahead position, although why this should start the light safety beeper I am not sure, but if the coil getting over wound and now chaffing to earth then all sorts can happen, Rick

Yeah I thought of this, just chose to ignore it and hope it was something else :doh

Is this an easy fix to remove and realign the wire and wheel? :nenau

I do not know, think we will need to remove the steering wheel to see what condition the coil is in, over wound/under wound or damaged, Rick

I have spares for pre 99 but not sure if they will fit yours being a 2004, as we have seen there are differences, Rick

Ah very true, fingers crossed it might just be a tight/bare wire, serves me right for spinning my steering wheel when it came off the splines :doh

Still I have certainly learnt from this one

I agree with Rick, you are probably a turn or two, too much on the steering wheel, which if there is an umbilical cable, then this could be being stretched to the limit. This might either cause wires to break, or wires to short out to each other.

So... what controls do you have on the steering wheel?

Horn, any radio controls?

BUT don't forget the air bag control, I'm not sure how this is triggered, but it might not work when it should:doh or could it trigger when it shouldn't :doh?

Either way, this is a safety issue so needs to be addressed straight away.

Yeah the airbag is my main scare, Me and the Missus actually thought we span it back to where it began but on second thoughs with adrenaline going ect, seems it might be under tension

Only the horn on my wheel. apart from that the stalks for lights ect are on the column I guess
