I'm used to dealing with Landrovers so imagine my surprise when my first Nissan had a Wet patch in a matter of days :lol .. ok here we go.

I have my new to me Pathfinder and whilst adding some additional wiring I noticed the carpet was wet. Initially I put this down to a Valet getting OTT before delivery but several days later it was soaking still.

I did a quick search and discovered that the airconditioning condensation overflow pipe which runs through the firewall is in the majority of Pathfinders , and probably Navara too short and thus leaks into the car before getting to the drain pipe. The wet patch probably exists in a great many cars.. maybe hidden by floor mats but a nightmare in the waiting. The condensation will be evident by not only the wet patch on the carpet but also the large donut grommit in the bulkhead being saturated to the touch.. its more like a sponge!

So I fixed mine (hopefully) today. The fix entails removal of the condensor pipe from the engine side of the firewall. Its this little item here...

To get your arm down to it it was necessary to temporarily relocate the relay box here.. just requires a 10mm socket , the nut is captive so no need to worry about the bottom.. but be careful mine easily cross threaded when put back. Here is the relay box with the lid off...

Now you should be able to get down to the overflow pipe, pull it off and feel the stub of the pipe from the heater / air con...

You will need some hose.. I used this Yellow stuff which was just the right size.. you only need an inch or so. The Green hose was to small internal diameter.

Finally push the hose on to the end of the aircon pipe outlet and then refit the rubber overflow pipe over the top of it... here you can just see the yellow hose popping through the bulkhead / firewall to give you an idea where all the action is at. Don't forget the overflow outlet hose needs to be squeezed back on over this and shoved back in to its home in the bulkhead.
