Handbrake Cable Snapped (I think)

While down at Rick's collecting the trailer (Thanks again for that Rick) I stopped and pulled on the handbrake and then felt something twang followed by needing an extra four clicks on the handbrake to get any kind of hold.

Truck is parked up at sister-in-laws this week while I'm stuck in London on a training course, so I can't check anything out, but I'm assuming the cable to one wheel will have snapped on me.

Anyone ever replaced a cable? easy job, easy part to get? :nenau

Don't want to curse my return journey, but yesterday I drove 590 miles in her and she ran beautifully all the way. 80+ on the motorway did suck a fair bit of veg oil though! Was gently jogging along at 50ish on the way back from Rick's and I barely saw the fuel needle move, must be far more economical at that speed.

cable is easy enough to do, you can see which one has gone by looking at the balance arm between the two about 12 inches from the lever, there are three cables, one is very short from the lever to balance arm, but if this had gone you would have nothing at all, Rick

Did mine last week broke on test not a bad job putting brake shoes is longest job.

Turns out it wasn't the cable I snapped, but the weld that holds the bracket on the underneath off the truck that the cable bolts onto.

Going to need to clean off the rust and get a welder in there me thinks.

Finally got a look tonight. As long as there's something solid to weld it back to i'll bring the MIG and you can stand by on fire watch at the second seat bench. It looks like the bracket needs welded straight to the underside of the floor, cue melting carpet!

Talking of top blokes, I'll take you up on the offer! There's some body work left, planning removing seats and carpet anyway.
