The main beam on my Santa FE is very poor but the dip is reasonable. The reflectors are in good condition though there is some yellowing of the polycarbonate headlamp 'glass' but not really bad. I have polished them up a bit to reduce the scratchy finish.

I took a bulb out to see what type were fitted and it has some unbranded H4 100/80 W bulbs with a blue glass effect fitted. I suspect that they are not centred very well for the main beam.

I have found some 100/90 W H4's on e-bay anyone done a recent H4 bulb upgrade.
I am not fussed about the dip beam being listed as off road spec only ?

For potentially less than twice the price of uprated bulbs you could have an HID kit with high/dip dual bulbs...the kits were just over the £40 mark when I fitted them to all our vehicles in the last 2 years.

When I was looking to increase the light output on my T2 I tried two different types of 100/80w, one was actually worse than the standard bulbs, the other about the same.
After a suggestion by another member on here I bought a pair of standard wattage Osram Nightbreakers - no going back now! They simply are streets ahead of conventional bulbs, and as for the blue tinted ones, as far as I can see all they do is reduce the output even more (and blue tinted sidelight bulbs are an MOT failure so I'm told!) Does this involve a lot of wiring work do you have a link ?

My Chrysler has Bi-Zenons so I am used to good lights.

from what I understand the hid kits r not road legal in uk as head lamps need washers and self levelling head lights also ur car needs to come from factory with them might be wrong but have alook a round the interweb:thumb2

I fitted a pair £4 blue tinted 50% brighter bulbs into my T2 no more yellow lights & they are brighter but night breakers would be better but cost a lot more. HID kits will get you a nice MOT fail & a pull from the boys in blue as you'll be blinding everyone on the road as standard headlamps can't focus the beam & everyone is removing them around here as the police are so hot on the matter:augie

Here is the link.
I've bought about 6 of these kits over the years from this seller.
Had one failure, the relay on one loom and it was replaced under warranty as stated, so can confirm this is a good and reputable seller.
Fitment is pretty much as states. Plug and play.

I'm using cheap eBay higher wattage bulbs, been in for a good year or so, pretty bright tbh

Retrofitted HID systems are an MOT pass all day long.
Read the text in the manual.

Information column = "Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps MAY be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp levelling system.
Method of inspection column = Where HID or LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted, switch on the headlamps and check the operation of ANY headlamp levelling and cleaning devices fitted.
Reason for rejection column, item 2 = A headlamp levelling or cleaning device inoperative or otherwise defective

The reason for rejection column does not include the word ABSENT in the text, therefore if the levelling or cleaning devices are not fitted then it is not a reason for rejection, therefore as long as they meet the other criteria in the headlamp section eg aim, colour etc then they should pass.
If people have been failed for HID's before then you need to assess your bulb colour as they could fail for being too blue.

6000K bulbs are an excellent all round bulb and appear white with an ever so slight blue tinge and are the ones I have always bought as they give the most useful light output.

And if it came down to having an oncoming car with "off road" higher output bulbs, or HID's coming towards me then the HID's win all day long. As long as they are correctly aligned, they DO NOT dazzle oncoming traffic. Never ever had a flash from an oncoming car to signal any displeasure.

I believe it is the police that would view them as being illegal due to the fact that the headlamps that the HID bulbs are fitted to are not CE marked, to certify them as being appropriately designed with the correct lens pattern for that kind of bulb, but have I ever been pulled over....no.

Ive been flashed twice now in the last year by on coming traffic whilst on dipped with my 100w h4s in

So might look at those ^ instead
