Finally decided to change the battery in my spare "plipper", (only had the vehicle a month!) but still didn't work.

Took it apart and cleaned all the crap out. 'mazing how much crap can be accumulated in such a tiny device. Still doesn't work.

Key works okay and turns off the immobiliser.

Do I just assume the plipper is kaput, or has anyone got a miracle solution?

Have you tried reprogramming them both via the instructions in the download section?

Also make sure batteries are in the correct way around.

Didn't know you could re-program them.

Does that reprogram the immobiliser chip in the fob, or the electronics for unlocking?

Why do both fobs when one works fine?

Just the fob not the immobiliser gets reprogrammed.

You do both at the same time as it matches the coding.

The download shows the older seperate fob but it also works with the inbuilt key and plip.

So to summarise...

Do both so they match?

It programs the lock/unlock coding.

NOT the immobiliser chip?

if one fob works fine, leave it (on some cars, if one fob goes you have to reprogram the total number you have, but not on these cars)

Re programming will only affect the plipper, so it will unlock the doors, that's it. The immobiliser is separate, so if the key itself works, great, just fix the plipper.:thumbs

Are you sure its not just the micro-switches that have gone duff. When you reprogram you only have about 4 reprogs and then its a visit to Mr Nissan with your plastic.David.

Clive both my Terranos the remote controls have to be done as a pair or the working one stops working. may be yours is different but thats what happens on my old oval fob and my square headed key on the 05 plate.

up to around 2000 it was NATS 2 and you could program them on an individual basis but later models have a later NATS and are very different, Rick

Thanks one and all for your input.

I will try re-programming both key fobs next weekend.

Lets hope I don't lose the one working fob!

look in the members list, Rayf2363 or some such numbers, he is right on top of T2 electronics, PM him Rick
