Tu tu the shame of it HB  I think your motor just wanted to make sand castles  where were you :?:

Withernsea Water Safety Awareness Day - it was a set up recovery demonstartion. I had to put it in 2wd and really gun it to get stuck and even then it was climbing out of the hole, took two of the lads pushing to keep me still whilst I spun the rear wheels down to the axle, even then 4wd would probably have got it out - did the trick though the coastguard approached us about going on their list of available assets etc. My truck was used as the stuck one as being the lightest if it turned out we got it properl stuck it would be easiest to get out. Drove in and out over and area the coastguard call the sand pit, they've had JCBs stuck in it etc, breezed in and out, just steady awy in 2low.

Should have used one of the landies, then it would have been stuck for real

I was going to say it's not like you to get stuck as thats my job  Never had mine on sand yet even tho the beach is only a few miles away

Yes but imagine the enviromental consequences if we didn't manage to remove it - was bad enough having 2 of the leaky old things on the beach for 15mins as it was.

Make sure its 100% ok and legal if you do and make sure you're not on your own. We had the say so from the Lord Mayor amongst others and there was a tractor available if it all went wrong (that would have been embarrassing), we'd walked where we going to drive through in advance and set the whole thing up carefully, the hard wt sand between high water mark and the water was fine but the soft stuff near the top could easily catch you out if you drove into the wrong bit of it.

Worst thing about sand is the salt!! Have had to use the Nav (my own vehicle!) at work and drive right into the sea, I realy hate rust!

Are there legally driveable beaches near you then?

I've driven on legit one near Southport and Weston Super Mare anyone know of any others going slightly off thread...

Is that one still legal many have een closed in the last few years. There's a threa running on the (main) GLASS forum at the moment and no one seems to have come up with anywhere that it is still legal to drive on the beach.

Well the southport ones were open last october when we stayed there and the WSM and nearby burnham on sea/breen down ones were open october 06.

technically they are only for parking purposes, so you drive as far as you can and park there lol.

A friend was on holiday this year in dorset and drove a section of beach that is is a boat and or orpa to the waet side of weymouth towards bridport. think its the western limit of chesil beach.

correction runs between west bexington and abbotsbury, SY531864 to 556848. south eastern end certainly features 100yds of shingle.

I'm not 100% sure on the one just down the road from me in Blyth:? but there are vehicles on the beach almost every day parked up or launching boats/jet skies  The other one in colorcoats next to Tynemouth you are allowed onto the small beach in the harbour or you were a few years ago

Anyway if you meant what I think you meant read my second post in this thread I couldn't get it stuck even when I was trying to, the landies on the other hand did't dare venture off the hard wet snad, being the overweight things that they are.

You may find this interesting but the weight of the terrano is 2580kg
the weight of the landy is 2550 kgs

What ever the chances of playing on the beach I wouldn't take my motor in all that salt and sand. Would prefer to leave the car in a car park and take my bucket and spade on the beach.
