Hello everyone and a happy new year to you all!!!

My names Carly and I've joined at the beginning of what might be a bit of an adventure! I'm hoping that something spectacular will be at the other end but also realise that it may also be quite upsetting!!! But whatever the outcome, I need your help!!!

In 2003, I lost my dad who was an absolute diamond and adored his off roading! Living in a house full of females he loved the opportunity to go out in his nissan patrol playing in muddy puddles etc! I used to love it when I could go with him!

Now when he passed away my mum had no choice but to sell his beloved beast! It was really hard for her to do but I need to track this car down!! I would love to spruce the old girl up and make her look amazing!

I've looked on the DVLA site and it's not taxed or mot'd which makes me wonder if it's been scrapped!!!

Can anyone suggest anything or anywhere I can go to find this car???

Thanks my dears!!!

Hi Carly and welcome aboard.

I'm sure others will be along today to help. How about posting a photo of the truck and it's reg number perhaps. Even where it was sold if it was a garage or something.

Good luck with your search.

Hi and welcome.
I love a good investigation. Apart from what Jim has said above, I'd give DVLA a call to see if they can help. I appreciate they can't give data protection info out, but they must be able to tell you whether it's been scrapped (and therefore you're wasting your time) or not.
Good luck and keep us informed on progress.

Welcome Carly!

Like Jim says can you give us a bit more info?

Given it was sold in 2003 I'm guessing it could be an older Trol, possibly a Y60 model, in which case there's a chance it could have been exported, as the older Trols are popular export vehicles...

Will help as much as we can though, good luck :thumb2

Hi Carly and welcome, not sure if DVLA will be a lot of help, going on my own experience with scrappers that I have bought, I simply SORNED them and stuck the V5 in a draw to be forgotten about, so as far as DVLA are concerned they are just off the road, and from what I see being yours was a Patrol it may well have been exported to Poland, Rick

DVLA will be bound by Data Protection Red Tape unfortunately so you'll probably end up banging your head but worth a try I guess.

Awww thanks folks! I'll have to have a day up at mums to find some pics! I'll give DVLA a buzz too!!! It was an older beast! But my dad looked after it well! Here's the info off DVLA when I searched the reg!! I'll let u know if I can find a pic and also keep u posted on what DVLA say

Thanks all!!! Fingers crossed xxx

Ps ... Oh bum!!! I don't know how to upload pics on this xxx

I can't figure out how to upload pics so the reg was a personalised one when he bought it an he always kept it too! Was sold with the the number plate still on which was HUI 6741

The date of first registration was 5th May 1992

Cylinder capacity 4169cc

Petrol

2 axle rigid body

Colour was blue (like a dark blue)

It's not been taxes since 1st November 2007 and not expired onjanuary 2nd 2009

I wonder if it was used on some sort of farm with the mot and tax dates being so far apart??? Xxx

Looks like a Northern Ireland plate to me which people sometimes use as private plates. Chances are it was bought from new in NI.

As for uploading pics, easiest is scroll down whilst you are writing the post and see the button called Manage Attachments, it's then a case of browsing to your photo on your pc. The other way is to use something like photobucket and use the url option from there.

Y60, those are a VERY popular export although maybe not as much as if it had been a 4.2 diesel. Might have been sat on a dealers forecourt for a while hence the MOT but no tax :nenau

If it was used as a farm truck without tax they wouldn't have bothered to MOT it.

Ive been looking for a 4.2 y60 trol for some time now and have somewhat given up now i got rather demoralised a few weeks ago when i spoke to a guy up in scotland, the conversation went a bit like this..

Me....Hi, im ringing about the trol you have...

Ok mate which one...

Me....4.2 shorty....

Got 4 of them mate in various states all need welding to chassis or body or both..

Me....Ok how much for the best one...

£2500 mate, they are all £2500 whatever state they are in.

Me....Oh ok will you take an offer...

No mate i get £2500 regardless of condition and ship off once a month..

So with this in mind i realise that most if not nearly all have gone by now and im not paying £2500 for a scrap vehicle...

Bit sad for us trol obsessed amoungst us..

This might help.. Got some mot test numbers, from 2007 to 2008 it hardly did any mileage also... 2007 was a fail.. 2008 was a pass..if it comes up as not taxed and moted it suggests it has not been scrapped, not legitimately atleast... Or made a permanent offroader If the rust was bad :nenau

Good luck! :thumb2
