as the title suggests i think i allready suspect my problem is the glow plugs , but im looking for confirmation

the last few days my bighorn has needed 4 or 5 goes with the glow plug light before it will start and run nicely .

if i just do the glow plugs once or twice like i used to do , i get a big cloud of black smoke and the truck runs very lumpy for a while .

am i correct in my assumption ?

many thanks in advance

pete

also ( unless im imagining it ) it seems to be using more fuel too

Sounds about right Pete, one or more glow plugs have failed, other than that I cannot help, do not even know what a big horn looks like, specially this cold weather,:augie, Rick

glow plugs

yes its your glow plugs i had one also check the pipe going to the tubo as this has a half moon circle pipe in it and it can move blocking the turbo the same happened on mine hopes this helps

Glow plugs won't make that much difference to the fuel consumption, unless you are doing short journeys, and you are waiting longer to move off after the engine stops jumping around.

This is what they do when you start a cold engine if one glow plug or more are faulty..
