I need new Glow plugs, and I have been searching on here to see what people have used, and both are mentioned. What have you all used in the end on your TDi's?

I have taken the faulty one out, and measured it up, and dimension wise, it is the same as the LP079, but I am struggling to find them as a reasonable price. Has anyone worked out whether we can use the LP032?

Also what other non-ceramic ones are there, all the others I have looked at that say what the tip is made of, all seem to be ceramic?

Linky does not work so Google Lucas LP032 specifications, that is what I did, Rick

I'm thinking the Lucas ones may be discontinued as very hard to track them down as you say for a reasonable price. I put a list together of all suitable plugs (not confirmed) These cover the early 2.7 TDI's 96 on.
DENSO Glow Plug - DG-137

Pure Glow GLOW PLUGS GP5801

BLUE PRINT AEG2005
FAI AUTOPARTS GGP101
NGK 5486

I'm leaning towards the Bosch at the mo, dont like Ngk never have & a lot of theirs are ceramic tipped, Bosch use Ceramic powder inside but I have been unable to confirm what the tips are

Thanks, I did wonder if they had been discontinued. Thanks for the list, the problem is, it seems so hard to find out if the ends are Ceramic or Metal, and once you have ordered them it's too late.

Make a note of the makes you might want, do some googling or try going to your local supplier, 1. do they have. 2. can you tell me if the tips are ceramic or not & of course how much dosh

That's what I have been doing, but I was hoping that with all the glowplugs that have been changed on here ofer the last 2 years, others would have at least "short listed" that list down a bit.. Back in 2014, I went through it all then, and could only find the Lucas ones..

It seems it is not something most people care about, and the default does seem to be ceramic.

The main question I guess is how many have used the LP032's in a TDi, and did they work OK, as they are a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of, than the LP079's.

Chers Rick, I found those, but in reality there is another £3/£2 P&P, so 4 of those, would work out at £53.56...

There is another listing for 4, at £50

I only paid £6.08 for my last one!!

On main website; LP079 FAI GLOW PLUG (LUCAS) x 4 £9.80 £39.21 + £3.19 Del Order Total: £42.40 :thumb2

Sorry Clive

Usually I would have been the first to have jumped on this one with a reply just been a bit busy.

Try giving Premier Factors a call in Walsall, last lot of LP079's I purchased off them were just over 4 quid each, they have an active listing for LP032's at the moment just probably haven't got round to lisitng the LP079's again but promise they should have them in stock.
