hi all i bought a generator last november tryed it for about half an hour then put it away tried to start it today and no way no how will it run cleaned plug drained fuel and refilled but it still wont run can any body help
regards brian

if its a four stroke one check engine oil, check u have spark by pulling engine over with plug out and resting ontop engine you shoud see spark!

halfway there then! is air airfilter clear sometiome when stored away on side fuel oil mix seeps outve carb soaking it making difficult to start any crud in tank blocking fuel lines?

dont think so when i put it away it was stored upright i drained fuel and checked the float bowl refilled but it still wont go
brian

have you tried kicking it, and swearing at it? I always do, it doesn't fix it but makes me feel better!

This seems unusual as my experience with thos cheap 2 stroke gennys is pretty good. They generally start very well and run just as well. Might be worth taking it back to the shop and getting a fresh one.

had it of ebay just tryed putting fuel down spark plug hole it ran and stoped tryed it a few times ran and stoped would not keep running

I agree with Jim T they are usauly very reliable and will take some abuse, if it is still under warranty dont stress or dissocate your shoulder keep pulling it, just take it back.

u got right mix not to much oil fouling plug quickly,id try new plug even slight damage stops em working properly and its cheapest option lol

looks like something is blocked on the fuel side ile have to strip it and investagate

fuel tap may have its own version of our old freind "the mini filter!"

when i drained the tank i turned tap on and it flowd ok so its got to be the pipe to thebowl and beond

Hi
I had the same thing with my genny, I found it was the petrol swith off/on took it off cleand it works great now. Found it by taking pipe off and switching fuel on no fuel came out .

sometimes when carb is drained of fuel the carb corrodes inside and when used again the bits of corrosion block the jets, hence the reason it starts when putting petrol straight in the inlet

Sounds like block jets or diaphragm in the carby, keep trying the pouring down the spark plug method to try and free up the blockage.
Perhaps a gentle blast of air down the fuel line.

Could be a stuck neadle jet on carb, drop bowl off and make sure float moves.

well ive been trying to get the geni to go since i last posted it seems like the bowl with the float in isent filling up but every think is clear ive had the float out and the shut of valve and blown down the pipe into the float houseing and its clear can only get it to go for a few seconds bye pouring fuel down the spark plug hole
brian

is there any petrol in the float chamber when you take the bowl off?
if there is clean the carb jets
ssteve
