hello i got a 3.0l 54 plate terrano and put it into 4wd and there was a squealing noise coming from the front,i dont know if it was the transfer box or gearbox or even the driveshafts, its like a metallic noise if that makes sense and also was stuck in 4wd but seemed to come out after putting in reverse, was wondering if anyone had the same or simular problem
many thanks in advance:thumb2

yeah just thought i would give it a try as havent really used the 4wd since last winter apart for the ocasional short spell towing through mud,the only thing ive changed is the oil a few months ago

Well don't do it again :question
Try again on some gravel or grass etc. See if you get the noise again? Hopefully you've just had a bit of "wind-up" especially noticed if you've got a bit of lock on.

just been out again and the noise seems to get faster and louder the faster you go so i only went up to 20mph

Ok assuming this was off the tarmac and you were in FWD high, drive shaft cvs :augie Can you identify one side or the other? More details of the noise please :D
OO\ just realised your's is fixed hubs I think. So probably cv or you've got a spanner stuck in there some where?
