Hi all
my nav has had problems in 3rd and 4th gear, thought it might be the clutch (new one fiited 4,000 mile) ,then fueling problems. Turned out to be a switch on the gear box that was at fault, telling the engine management system i was in neutral. The symptoms are no acceleration in 3rd and fourth but not in 1,2 or 5. this happens now and then and creeps up untill its obvious.
The new sender is £77 fron Nissan ( £35 fitting at an independant garage arm and a leg at Nissan)

Interesting - I am convinced that my T2 must have a gear indicator switch for the ECU as the engine not is most definitely different in 3rd, 4th and 5th even accounting for the different road speed for a given rpm it does sound different. I've wondered before if there are different ecu maps for 1st and 2nd so as to reduce power in the lower gears, (its not unheard of in other cars) to prevent wheelspin etc, might havan investigate, would be good to be able to fool the ECU into thinking it is in a higher gear and thus get access to the higher powered map all the time.
