Gearbox swap

Hi
I have been looking at a 3litre terrano which has a problem with selecting 1st & 3rd gears. Any ideas for a simple fix??

I have a 2,7 litre gearbox from a 98 terrano which has been kept as spares for my sons terrano. Will the 2.7 tdi box fit the 3litre if the original box cannot be fixed?

Sounds like you should be getting the 3.0 cheap if the box is kerput, The old box will be repairable, just depends on how much you want to spend on it.
While it's out, you should be able to see if the 2.7 will fit.
You say it's 1st & 3rd, are the other gears OK, it may be the clutch playing up, or even something stopping the gear lever from moving forward :nenau
Like I say, get the new terry cheap enough and you should be onto a winner.

I have yet to look at the terrano. I just wanted to get an idea if the 2.7 gearbox would fit in place of the 3.0l one as I had one here already. If it did not fit it would be more difficult to source a suitable box and get it transported to me. This would dictate how I tried to negotiate a deal.

I believe the generic part number for the 5 speed manual box is:
FS5R30A, it has been used in a number of different Nissan's although I would expect the ratio's to be different.
