Gearbox rattle on idle

Good site but my Terrano is a Variant D / version D4 import and not UK - there are differences in clutch size.

That seems low for a clutch...

What do others get before changing the clutch for the first time?

I know it depends on the driving history, road, motorways, caravan towing, off roading, but 63000 is very low in my opinion.

If you are going through the hassle of changing the gearbox, you don't want to be going through the same hassle changing the clutch any time later because it's almost the same amount of stripping down.
A clutch life depends how you treat it - i.e it gets an easier time pulling off underload in low box than in 2WDe.g slipway with a boat or large trailer on a hill.

Mostly it tends to be clutch pressure plate failure rather than clutch plate ...... and only numpties change only the plate

Question ; Would you go for a Genuine Nissan clutch at £174 or a pattern at £110 ? - not a condesending question - what are peoples opinions of genuine Vs aftermarket?

This was covered recently but I have a few further questions bugging me.

So it rattle on idle, but disapperars when clutch depressed or u raise revs.

Someone mentioned input shaft bearing ?

Could it be indicative of layshaft bearings ? Or would these rumble when driving ?

Can the input shaft bearing be done without taking the whole gearbox appart like when I do clutch ? As otherwise it might be better to get a recon box lined up for clutch time

No rumble when driving or coasting in neutral

As far as I read the first post it wasnt rumbling when driving which to me means probably just A noisy clutch release bearing which I have had on various machines in past which while annoying lasted for ages:nenau

But the release bearing is not spinning during normal driving or neutral, the fault is in neutral. Basically when you play the pedal to the point where you are removing the drive to the input shaft the noise stopps,
