Dirty Frogs 1st MAJOR SET BACK :(

Spoke / text & pm'd a few friends & all say gearbox :(

But

Just incase, in the future anybody has simler problems I'll post my missfortune here

Lost 4th gear (its got fed up & emergrated :lol)

Drives fine otherwise with no noises

When slowing down in gear it makes a grinding noise & the slower you go the louder it gets

When changing down the gears it grinds slightly

When going up the gears its fine

Looks like the 1 I'm buying & collecting off Ian Douglas next weekend will now be spares for Dirty Frog :(

Nightmare hope you get it sorted out without to much trouble :thumb2

Oh he's got loads more to come:lol
Think he gets up on Monday morning, has a dip in his hat of woes and runs with it:D

I got a gearbox he can have at the going rate (petrol so not sure if the bell housing is the same) plus he could pick up his engine and the caravan he wanted, now that would be a worthwhile trip, what do you say Ads mate, Rick

If the bell housing is the same :nenau I'll DEFINITELY have the lot but would need a BIG favour off somebody to get it all

Well when your on a limited budget most people would bin it & get another...
The way i look at it although its an expensive initial out lay if i got another 1 whos to say the same wouldn't happen to that or worse plus i got to mod it again so i will keep repairing till its not worth while i.e. Major Rot :thumbs

These thing are merely hurdles & i won't & don't fall :thumbs

OK 1st on the 2.7 = 3.58, 2nd 2.077, 3rd 1.360, 4th 1.0, 5th 0.81
1st on ,,,,,,,,,,2.4 = 3.21, 2nd 1.902, 3rd 1.308, 4th 1.0, 5th 0.75

so yes they are different so leave it to you, so it seems that the petrol must have higher torque than the diesel as the ratios are lower, so if you use a petrol box you will not have the same torque but will get higher speeds through the gears, leave it up to you, Rick

Life is full of problems, Adz, dont forget the gear box and engine I do not think will go in the caravan, just too heavy, so will they both go in the back of a T2??? and we have yet to get the box out of the scrapper, what is the easiest way??? lift the body off or turn it on its side and attack it with the angle grinder?? Rick

drain oils first or your gonna have a mess everywhere! i dred to think how heavy a t2 box is aswell!
