gearbox autopsy

took the old gearbox to bits from my terrano to see what damage was inside, heres some pics

Taken apart just to have a look. It has previously been rebuilt 'bodged' as someones jammed silicone sealant in gaps and the internal lock nuts were damaged from someone with a hitting stick:doh

Ohh and some of the syncro was chewed up

Ohh and the idler gear looks like it needs a dentist :lol

Possibly, only problem is, getting new bearings. Wouldn't be worth the work because it'll probably break again. I've got the 2nd layshaft and a few gears hanging up in my room still need to remove the main shaft

yeah, its a fair lump of metal lol
