Gear Oil

Trying to get the correct gear oil to change all the gear boxes and axles. Can get 75w/90 or 80w/90 and LSD oil no problem but when i say it needs to be G-4 or G-5 the person serving looks at me like i have 2 heads or just looks vacent! Whats the difference and does it matter?

the g4 and g5 refer to the type of oil, the wrong one can affect the bronze bushes in the gearbox..... or so I am told bri

its (API) GL4 or GL5 - GL5 is for hypoid drives (offset pinion to ring gear) which are harded on the oil. Read the label it will be on there.
