gear box problems

Hi not been on for a while anyway my friends gear box has just blown on his terrano his is the non intercooled version just wondering if the later tdi box fits straight on and are the speedos the same as my friends are cable

I do believe they are the same, but for sure the best person to ask is cncfabs, I think Zippy has his number, Rick

I think there is a slight difference in the gearing between the TD & TDI boxes but not 100% sure the bell housing on the TDI box would need a blanking plate made to cover up the hole for the crank sensor or bell housings swapped over

not possible to swap the bell housing it is all in one, as for the sensor hole this will only apply if the box is from a Bosch pumped motor, and has little significance anyway unless you intend wading to that depth, Rick

I think they are different, because of the mechanical drive, now if I recall... the box length is different, and affects the length of the propshaft, can't remember if it's the front or rear...
Certainly worth checking before buying.
If I recall... there was a thread once that someone did, showing them side by side. Must be a few years back.

The front prop differs in length.
The fully closed length can be either 645mm or 605mm.
Not sure that the rear is different....

Ginnas mates motor is a non intercooled so no sensor, Rick

I recently bought a gearbox for trig on Facebook and we had issues with the length of prop, his was an old skool t2 Aswell. So was the box we got.
