Damn you google, just found a bit and can see some major mods up front. Twin shocks to start with and are full ht to top of wing, fantastic, cheers Stinka :sly

it is LWB you can see the back doors, looks nice.

My crazy mind has gone into overdrive now I've seen this :D

Checking the (appalling) translation, I see the magic word 'Proto' appended to the vehicles name. This means that there's a Nissan concept design behind it.

Especially as the rally in question has a class for prototype & concept vehicles.

Expect heavily modified to the point of no resemblance except for the bodyshell, sundry components and interior trim.

if you want a offroader get a SWB one.

But what about the Dakar/raid trucks and the like, they have a lwb. Also, dare i say it, landrovers, landcruisers and patrols are often cracking off road in lwb form. I think the whole lwb = a lesser vehicle theory is a complete misnomer ...

Dakar is a rally, They need the space for fuel, extras etc and rarely need the attack angles.

LWB back end always gets in the way. Although LWB do seem to work well muddin

700bhp RB26DETT apparently

Actually I made that up :p

*chuckle* That's one hell of an engine for anything, although it's suitability for a Dakar car is questionable. Plus at 700 horses it would have to be an RB28 at least.

thats where everyone gets so anal about modding trucks, when in fact the standard truck is quite capable in most everyday situations. (farmers and alike)
however pretty much as soon as you start modding what you gains somewhere you loose on other areas
i remember when pete and i used to go out, i liked rigid up the front pete liked it all wallowy .

end of the day no one is going to bring a truck like that and blindly dunk it in a lake or climb some stack of rocks in wales . its just not built for that. and yes if you wanted to climb silly angles im sure they would have built it to do that.

thats the key to modding ... decide what you want to do with it long before you start down one avenue... cos no one will ever build a truck that is the mutz at everything

From wiki:

The first 2.6 L RB26DETT featured twin-turbochargers and produced around 280 hp (206 kW) @ 6800 rpm and 260 lb·ft (353 Nm) @ 4400 rpm. The last series of the RB26DETT produced 280 PS (206 kW) @ 6800 rpm and 289 lb·ft (392 Nm) @ 4400 rpm. } The reason for this discrepancy is a gentlemen's agreement between Japanese automakers to limit the advertised horsepower of any vehicle to 280 PS (276HP). It is widely known for its strength and extreme power potential. It is not uncommon for 600 hp to be achieved without modification of the engine internals. With regular maintenance, many of these engines have been driven well beyond the 100,000 mile mark with a few heading toward 200,000 miles. With extreme modification, the RB26 motor is capable of power in excess of 1 megawatt (or over 1,340 hp)

But I assume you are referring to the 2.8 stroker kit ?

Tbh tho if I was lucky enough to be able to build a dakar raid truck like this I'd use a reworked diesel lump like a zd30tddi that could no doubt easily pushing out 400+ bhp and 600+ nm of torque :thumbs

That just seems wrong, lol
