HI garden is full of the little blighters lawn recked birds feeding on the grubs.
so great patches of dead grass being pulled up.
I rolled a lenth of turf up about 5ft x 2tf and picked 150 grubs up.
anyone else had problems with them.

"A pathogenic nematode, Heterorhabditis megidis, which attacks the larvae by infecting them with a fatal bacterial disease, can be watered into the soil during the summer to early autumn when the ground is moist and in the temperature range 12-20oC (55-68oC). This microscopic nematode is available by mail order from some biological control suppliers."

ooh-arrrrrr!:D

hi lacroupade.
i have read the info on this product but not available off the shelf so will try this first Provado Lawn Grub Killer does away with garden chafers and leather jackets.
Apparently the garden centre has sold out of this product twice this year.
£16 99 treats 100 sq.m.

Ian i think from what I've read its a bit too late in the year for that sort of treatment, needs to be earlier when the larva are about or whatever stage it is....have a google, there are a few useful links...

looked at my lawn this afternoon and there are lots and lots of holes in it I think the grubs have took a dislike to the insecticide I put down yesterday and have come out onto the lawn where the birds have had a field day.:clap:clap:clap:clap

hi willow .
mr and mrs Blackbird and family are still doing well ,they are still in the garden but are eating something else now,but still digging the lawn up .
It says on box that its harmless to animals and birds so no problem.
I think the grubs didnt like the chemical so came out of the soil to get away from it.
SO TO USE A QUOTE GRUB UP:clap:clap:clap:lol:lol:lol:thumbs.
