funny noise in 5th gear

hi guys,

Just bought another terrano2 2000 faceift model and have noticed a funny noise in 5th gear.
The noise only happens in 5th gear and sounds like a whiring noise
but the noise is only there when you put your foot down the minute you take your foot of the gas the noise goes.
the noise is not there when you put your foot down on the clutch it also goes when knocked into neutral.
the noise is only there when at speeds between 55-70mph and the funny thing is at the same speed in 4th gear there is no noise.
it doesnt effect the perfromance of the jeep and the rest of the gears are nice and smooth and the clutch fels good too.
it sounds like the old fashioned speedo cables that make a bit of a noise when at 70-80mph if tht makes sense.

ps what gearbox oil and how much does it take ?

where does the noise appear to come from ? that might help

if its a whirling noise... at certain speeds i say it some thing in the gear box is worn!! on 1 of the selectors or something!!

hi guys the noise seems to come from the drivers side dash/pedal/that side of the gearbox.

i was thinking of changing the oil and see what happens ?
also thinking of changing the transfer box oil and both diffs ?

what miles has she got Nik? Not alternator bearing or something like that is it? they have a habit of making odd noises at odd times until they really go....

the jeeps done 124,427 miles doesnt sound like an alternator bearing though.
i would of thought if it was an engine component bearing it would make the noise at the same speed in 4th but it doesnt it only makes thenoise in 5th.

just changing the thread slightly the jeep also has heated seats but im not sure if they are working correctly ?
the orange light on the switch comes on but the seats dont seem to get that hot or hot at all ?
but i would of thought if the light on the switch comes on the seat would be working correctly?
