Function

Can someone explain to a dim wit (me) what the function of this switch and what it does in the different positions please.

S = Sport; moves the gear change points further up.
Centre position = Normal Operation.
* = Ice/Snow; Vehicle moves off from rest in 2nd to reduce tendency to wheel spin.

That switch

I have found that they seem to make little difference where the switch is if you floor it as the kick down switch engages and overides everything.
