iv been running the terra on a mix of sunflower oil, diesel and a little unleaded as reading through the posts there seems to be a bit of conflicting advice and this seems a good mix of cheap and safe running, but the problem im now having is where to buy the veg oil from cheaply. i used to get 5l for£6 from asda(£1.20/l is good enough for me) but they have stopped doing these now, so where do you guys get yours from? if this is against forum rules for advertising or somthing then sorry n just let me know and il remove the thread.

Don't you need to register for a Trade Account?:nenau

I get my VO from Farm Foods 89.5p per ltr with vouchers.:thumbs

KTC is £17.99 mate ??

thats where mine comes from and yes you need to register as a trader or business or some other organisation you will need a letter and bank statements in the name of said org to

all sorted, my sister owns a butchers and i often go do the collections for her so have a card already. i bought 2x 20l of ktc veg oil which is rapeseed, added 5l of unleaded and put in the tank. i already had bout £20 worth of diesel in it so should be all good. thanks for the info guys.

Get mine from local paki food shop, big bags of rice, spices etc. 20ltr tins of veg £19.49. I bought 2. Put a £5's worth of petrol in (3.75ltrs) . Dash said -0C this morning so I gave it 2 glow's, and it started sweet.

:dohwhat does "two glows" mean? is it putting ignition on till glow plug light goes out then turning off and on again? or am i just making a fool of myself? haha remember im a newbie:doh:doh:doh

so is running on veggie oil really cheaper then diesel? also does the engine run better using it :nenau

iv got a '94 2.7td with 150,000miles up, i bought it in july and ran just diesel until september when i started adding asda sunflower oil at about a 70/30 diesel/vegoil mix and couldnt tell the difference except for the smell on start up. i ran it dry just before christmas(dont lend the wife the car!) and was about 12miles from the nearest petrol station so popped into heron and got 5 1l bottles of vegoil, primed it and it ran fine on that so i know itl run 100% if i needed it too. iv just put 40l rapeseed oil/5l unleaded/15l diesel and its still running fine so think il stay with this ratio. as to financial gains, diesel near me is £1.44.9/l today any veg oil is about 90p/l so at a 40/20 ratio it averages about £1.08/l (if i can add up correctly) thats 37p/l in my pocket, about £25 a week to me.

Banged 40L of KTC in and 3 litres of petrol on Friday

£40 ffs its stupid not to lads, runs like a Rolls Royce

yeah, on a cold morning I just let it have 2 glow lights. Turn key wait for light to go off and then do it again. Might not need it, I just like to do it.
I agree with stinka, stupid not to. Plus adding the unleaded makes all the difference from when I ran it before on 100% veg. It ran, it just does it better with 10-15% petrol. I don't think this truck will see a Diesel nozzle again.

By the way, Veg oil is more expensive than Diesel.
No Vat or Duty on Veg, still 95p/ltr though for me

once a month put in diesel as it has chems in it that help to keep injectors clear:thumbs
